As predictable as our bad offense - SU now trying to modify Mask enforcement

They shouldn't be surprised when actual attendance is like 20k for the rest of the year. This weekend will be brutal

Well the good news for SU is that attendance will be a lot lower then last week so I guess there is a greater chance of enforcement. Still what is an usher or SU guest service (im sure a fan next to them tattling to SU will go over real well) going to do when they demand a drunk fan put on his mask and he shows them his beer or a food item?

I found it funny when they highlighted on the message board social media posts from fans at the game...and none were wearing masks.

This was so predictable when you say you're not going to enforce it. It was optional at that point and half assed.

Yea I don't get how you do this with food and drinks being allowed, the only way for real mask requirement would be no concessions which I don't see them going to. On the bright side there will be plenty of room to socially distance for those so inclined

Right -- the only way it works is if people actually feel compelled to do it and believe in the merits. And then, you still need people going around, holding signs and reminding folks. They did that at the Sweet 16 and it largely worked. But then again, there were only 1800 people and we were already spread out.

It seems impossible to enforce at a football game. This screams of a PR effort to manage after the fact, not a real policy.

Your post 100% spot on.

SUs issues are 2 fold
First off when you allow concessions which we all get why, you give anyone who doesn't want to wear a mask an easy out that's almost impossible to enforce.

Secondly you let the genie out of the bottle last week you can put it back with 20K people.

they always said actively eating.. that doesnt mean holding a can in your hand.

There were two guys sitting down to my left, a father and son, who each had an open beer next to them that they didn’t drink. They sat there for the entire game without a mask, and without drinking. The term “letter of the law” comes to mind.

Behind us sit three “kids” in their thirties with whom we’ve had a lot of fun over the years. They all dutifully wore their masks, as did we, and they were consistent, as were we, until the Babers’ technical foul and the Schiano antics, and then one guy ripped off his mask, screamed for a good 30 seconds, and then put his mask back on again. He was conscientious, until the game of football levied its price, which it tends to do.

This will end well.

It will be the same as last week. Honestly I was pretty surprised how maskless the whole thing was. Each row has something like 20 seats? Good luck...

gonna be a lot of text messages sent.

LoL. When the mask Nazi tells me to put my mask up I’m going to pull it back down after they walk away. Better yet, we’ll just pull it up when we see them walking towards us and down after they turn around. What a joke. So now they’re trying to get people to rat on each other. Oh boy what could go wrong.

everyone in my section within 5 rows of me was in compliance

I sat in 129. Just very very few. Even people I figured would wear em didn't. Surprised how little it was in the hallways, COVID or not those are germ factories.

Good luck finding people who want to work as "Mask Enforcers" when most businesses can't fill positions.

Maaaaybe 10-20% of the people in my section in the 300s were wearing a mask. Even the usher was rocking the under-the-nose look by the second quarter.

If you’re going to have a policy you should maybe at least pretend you’re going to enforce it otherwise just recommend masks.

there’s going to be number to text with the section row and seat of people not complying.

Cell service is pretty slow. But just from what I saw, it's one person calling on 50.

All kidding aside I wore it in the hallways, those are grossly on top of each other at half.

great attitude. What do you do if you have to go to the doctors where masks are required? A hospital? Other SU buildings? If you can’t comply with SU’s policy or don’t like them, then stay home.

they’re going after the students too. They’re having a meeting tonight with ottos army and other student organizations about mask wearing compliance. All SU students signed a pledge to abide by all campus protocols.
