Our loss to Michigan was the first time we’ve played a team with the same seed in the NCAA tournament as us. Here is a history of SU’s record in the tournament since they started seeding teams in 1979:

So are best shot at a getting to our next Final Four is for us to be a #1 seed, beat the #16 seed (2-0), hope the #8 seed in our region bests the #9 seed (4-1 vs 0-2), then hope either the #12 or #13 seed advance to the Sweet 16 round (6-1 or 5-1 vs 3-2 either way with the 4 and 5) and in the regional finals hope the #6 (5-1) in our region advanced to the Elite 8 beating the 3 (2-2) and then the 2 (2-4).
