Who wins the ACCCG? My opinion: Clemson is the more complete team, even without Kelly Bryant. The backups are solid (though inexperienced). With Kelly Bryant, I believe Clemson is 10 point favorite. Without Kelly, Clemson is the favorite, not sure by how much. Clemson will modify their passing game and can play a streamlined control passing game to move the chains. They did this in the Syracuse game, it simply was not enough. This is not a slam on Miami. They play good defense, though the running game was open to us, imagine the Clemson running game against the Miami D. The secondary is good, but I opine that Dungey was way off compared to his normal performance, must give the Miami secondary this credit - They look for opportunities to make a play for the ball rather than just looking for a stop, and it pays off. Miami's line id not to be taken lightly. Clemson's defense will get stops and will get to the QB more so than our D. Regarding coaches: Swinney gets the edge, he did win a NC and played for a second NC in recent years. Richt is no slouch and could finally get a NC with Miami, just no this year. Both coaches have teams that have bought into their system, Swinney gets the edge because he has been at Clemson long enough to have the pipeline of players in his system on hand, Richt needs another year or two. Richt may not be as solid a game day coach, but you have to respect the changes he made at the half and then in the second half. Also, Richt is clearly on the same page as HCDB regarding S&C. Miami kids were running strong in the fourth while most teams are gassed. Richt gets the edge here. As for fan bases: Clemson fans seems more realistic. Much more into the nuts and bolts, with an understanding and an appreciation of football and less egotistic. They enjoy the sport for the sport while strongly supporting their team. Being able to discuss football without going off the deep end is a characteristic of real football fans, not lunatics/bandwagoners/big mouths. Miami has some good fans but seems to have many more fans that are not in touch with reality (some of their fans believe they should have won last night by 30). Miami fans make me think of what Rutgers fans could be like if they had talent on their team: Expecting to be world beaters walking away with wins by 20-40 points weekly...oh, wait, Rutgers already thinks that without talent; or NCState fans without the inferiority complex. Anyway, I think these two teams are likely to run the table and meet in the ACCCG. It will be fun to watch what happens the rest of the season.
