Shafer might want to think twice in case he decides to predict 8 wins again next year...

In my view this season turned on two games - Maryland and NC State. I have no issues with the losses to FSU, Clemson or Louisville. I think those teams were just better and SU played competitively in all of them.

Maryland and NC State are not very good and both were home games. Against Maryland they amassed 600 yards of offense and Hunt rushed for 170 yards. How do you end up on the wrong end of a 14 point loss? Well, throw a red zone pick six for starters.

Vs. NC State they were up 14- 9 late in the 3rd quarter and were driving for another score that I believe would've just about sealed the deal. Yet another red zone pick six turned the tide against them.

When you are team struggling for relevance, you cannot throw away winnable games. If they had gone into yesterday's game with 5 wins and 3 to play for bowl eligibility I believe the perception of this team would be very different.

There is some talent on this team, not enough to compete with the big boys but enough to have cobbled out 6 wins with this schedule. This team by and large played tough against better competition and then would self destruct against teams they could beat.

Frustrating season.

If the SU administration can't see that they need to spend some money to be competitive, then they are blind.

Louisville will not be as good a team when all of the Strong defensive recruits are gone. So I do/will have an issue if we lose to them often.

The only team in this conference that I would be OK with losing to would be FSU, beyond that we should be on par with everyone else. The only other team that "should be" better than us is Miami. I think as soon as they get rid of Golden and get a real coach, they will be a national power again.

This SU team has talent. Even with all the injuries they held their own vs very good to great teams in FSU and Clemson. They are just poorly coached. That sums up everything this season. Coaches didn't do their jobs and prepare these kids at all. From offseason prep, strength and conditioning, to in game management.

fsu will be lose some pretty good offense talent next year that's why if we play them week 2 it wont be impossible. LSU is only guaranteed loss going into the year

Petrino is a good coach and while their defense might not be what it was under Strong, the offense will always be pretty good on average with Petrino. I think UL will continue to be a pretty good team for the foreseeable future.

weird I was told that next season will be much better

Shafer will need a bowl game next year or else he will be on the clock...

I 'm kind of shocked you are conceding a loss to LSU, Chris.

At FSU might not be "impossible," but it's about as close as you can possibly come to a guaranteed loss.

Completely agree about the desperate need to spend money on this program. As far as FSU being the only team that should be better than us, I disagree. Clemson should be a top 10-15 team basically every year, we can't be expected to keep up with them. Miami should be a powerhouse but haven't been and I hope it stays that way. Even in our heyday we could only beat Miami when the NCAA smacked them down.

Clemson has been average through most of its existence, much like us. They've hit on something last few years - but wasn't long ago WVU was hanging 70 on them.

Very excited to see LSU in person hopefully. There is never a lack of talent there with plenty of fun players to watch. I absolutely HATE having 2 games with no chance to win however. The schedule next year could be Shafers demise.

Louisville is a great example of a school that spends a lot of money on all of their sports. Great facilities across the board and I don't expect them to slide back too much since they, like Clemson, have no issue paying a coordinator a seven figure salary.
