And every single time it hurts this team's chances to compete.

I want a coach that's willing to take every chance he has.

I want a coach who cares more about going down fighting than whatever ultra conservative ohana thing that causes him to regularly punt from across midfield in must score situations or run the ball into the line when you need to score multiple times and have a whole field to cover.

Im done. Because as many games as this team manages to win this season and in seasons to come is despite him, not because of him.

I would be pissed as a player if that’s what was going down. That’s not what they signed up for.

The thing I don't understand is, he used to take those chances!
Not really. He did for a couple of seasons until he realized he was overmatched and then pretty much gave up because he was never a good coach to begin with. A lot of talk.

Arizona just went through a 3 game gauntlet of top 10 Washington, top 10 USC, and top 20 Washington State. They stayed within 1 score against Washington and USC and just BEAT #19 Wash State by 38 ON THE ROAD.

Syracuse just got blown out in all 3 games during their 3 game gauntlet.

Side note - for those who dont now my kid goes to Arizona so I tend to follow them closely. They have a lot of similarities to Syracuse insofar as their football struggles. Only reason I could see such a parallel there

I don't agree with every part of this post, but the "he realized he was overmatched" part struck a chord and resonated somehow.
I believe at some point Dino did realize he was overmatched, and consciously or subconsciously just started to defer in rough situations- specifically during our now almost common beatdowns. I don't think HE thinks the team can win against certain teams.
To paraphrase the "Boss" Springsteen, he's become "like a dog that's been beat too much, till he spends half his life just covering up".
