It's really just about winning. Style points never actually matter -- but they are truly irrelevant at the end of February. The team is what it is.
I can understand being more concerned with aesthetics in early January, but right now it doesn't matter. Playing a beautiful half of basketball against Maryland is not going to matter for the tournament. Losing against Maryland would have implications -- a tougher road and lower seed.
SU looked like crap at this time last year. And we know how that turned out. Would I prefer they were clicking on all cylinders? Sure. But getting the W is all that counts.
None of this is particularly novel. But it's important to keep in mind.
I would also ask: Had CJ not been called for a charge against Duke, and he converted on the 3 point play...Would there be so much doom and gloom on this board? I don't think so. And we are one iota of good fortune from that being the reality.
