Always so weird how every high school kid runs a 4.4 40 and then at the combine about a dozen actual NFL prospects manage to run any quicker than that.

Big difference between hand and laser timed. There's alot of error that's introduced with a hand timed 40, not to mention, a coach is often cherry-picking the best time, when he's timed or seen the results from hundreds of attempts. The combine you only get a few attempts and it's on the last few days after scouts have had you up all night for three days straight and you've been poked, prodded, and cavity examed by 60 different medical staffs...suffice to say, despite all the preparation, you're not at your best.
