I have a plan to increase attendance in the dome for football. Next year, in addition to my 2 tickets in 319, I am going to buy 2 season tickets in the end zone and make them available to whoever will use them. Am hoping this will catch on here but, if not, will go it alone. I can no longer look around the 1/2 to 2/3 filled dome without doing something about it.

so you're going to be a ticket benefactor? I like it.

The real need is to buy some of those tickets between the 20's that go unsold because of their price. The Dome is sometimes packed in the end zones and sparse on the sidelines.

Yeah those section 300’s $110+fees Tickets for a single game are a bit pricey...even if we were a top 25 team.

College football culture amongst the schools who pack 70-100k per game starts with fun outside the stadium. Massive amounts of tailgaters that even at times starts in campers the night before. A true year after year winner would bring more people, as would AC and a more comfortable fan experience. The layout and parking challenges coupled with the spread out pre game festivities doesn't quite create that pre game atmosphere that brings in people in hoards.

I'm not saying SU , being boxed in within the city limits is going to be PSU someday but it would certainly help to have a thoughtful plan of attack to really maximize the tailgating experience and building that culture to get many more people on campus to take part in all of the fun. I think to an extent that will always be a limiting factor because of the red tape and just general challenges all around. Winning , Dome improvements and campus improvements will for sure help, it's just going to take longer and still fluctuate vs every game being truly an " Event ".

That's basically what we do. Group of 6 friends (I use that term as loosely as Millhouse on a summer Saturday). Each has a ticket and no one lives in Syracuse. So we try to all hit one game together, then offer them around to each other first. But ultimately it goes to extended family or friends, at no charge.

The cuse.com site makes the transfer of tickets very easy. Couple clicks and done.

See ads all over the site for single game unc tickets now on sale! Hopefully we sell plenty before the pitt game

change the pricing in the upper deck between the 20's especially on the visiting side of field, make them the same as endzone

I think it's safe to say that air conditioning won't be a factor for the remaining three home games.

LOL, very true. But, the warm dome argument for lack of attendance is weak. Consider what teams in the SEC and Texas and Oklahoma go through for the first 4-6 weeks of the season. Many times its direct 90+ sun on fans on these huge outdoor stadiums.

Tne reduced pricing will help but Cuse like other northeast cfb towns battles the culture thing. When Syracuse wakes up on a fall Saturday there are a myriad of options including foliage, lakes, apples, leaves, golf, camping, pumpkins, and other northeast call activities. The just win approach falls short . The marketing is poor and we live in a diversified town where cfb is an afterthought.

The marketing is not poor.

The proposition and product has been. Winning is a huge uplift. Other stuff needs enhancement. And it’s in the works but some of it will take until 2021-22.

It's not the setting. Tennessee also has an urban campus with crappy parking where people tailgate in parking garages. They routinely get 100,000. It's the regional culture that is different. The southeast is called the bible belt but it should be called the football belt. It is their religion. I have never heard anyone down here complain about tailgate locations or noon kickoffs. None of that matters to these people. They will not be dissuaded from worshiping their god in their church 7 saturdays every fall.

We have the best coach in the game though those tickets will sell themselves after todays game.

I get what you're saying, and it is true, but it's not just southern vs. northeastern culture. Penn State and Ohio State are rust belt cold weather teams that draw 90k+. There are no P5 state schools in the northeast, and that's a huge part of the difference.

Instead of comparing SU to Tennessee, compare us to Vanderbilt. I'll save you some time...we outdraw them.

Back to the Original poster I agree 100% and is a great way to help (as will winning).

Living in Indiana I dont expect to make a home game but I do enjoy traveling to several away ones annually. For as cheap as the tickets are in some places I would be all for this. How about we go in as the SyracuseFan.com section and offer the tickets to a different charity or non profit every game. This would be a small investment for those on here.
