You have special insight how the AD develops his budget? You were in the room when Coyle negotiated his deal? Lol you haven't a clue.

I just can't imagine he would have come here if he didn't get assurances that he would be able to pay market for a worthy staff and to be able to swing for the fences. Or I just keep telling myself that to keep some semblance of sanity.

And who does the AD report to on budgeting? The Chancellor, Trustees and CFO. He doesn't go allocate cash at a whim...his budget and rationale need approval. And he's brand spanking new and likely still getting a handle on everything.

But maybe you're right...I should just huff an puff to the AD on an Internet chat board that if he dare spend less than $2 million, that he should not even bother to talk to us at SyracuseFan.com. GO GET EM, CRUSTY!!!

If they weren't going to give him the tools to do the job, he shouldn't have taken the job, I know I wouldn't have. Being set up to fail blows, been there.

I have to believe that if they are ready to announce a $400-500 million dollar renovation according to some insiders that they are all in on paying a coach.

Not sure they will but I keep believing, not sure why though.

I don't believe in not supporting the kids regardless of what the administration, AD or coaching staff does. They are really the ones literally banging their heads together representing the university and the community.

I like everything about Coyle, but we are putting an awful lot of faith in him that he will make a great hire. We know very little about his contacts, his hiring of coaches and how he is perceived around the country. We all thought Gross knew what he was doing and he screwed up three hires. Maronne was not a bad hire, but Gross developed a horrible relationship with the man. I might have to give Gross a pass on that because Maronne has proved he can't get along with anyone.

If he didn't get a baseline commitment of at least $6 million dollars to be spent on staffing if, and when, it was needed, he should not have come here.

The school needs to make a decision if it wants to truly compete in P5 football. I hope Coyle's hiring is a sign that it is, along with the Dome renovations.

Boise State didn't dish out the $$$ to keep Petersen even though if it were up too Coyle he might have but couldn't and then Coyle was AD for only 4 years there. That tells me that he came here because Boise was Boise and he hadpromises of a bigger and more open check book at the Cuse. But then didn't Marrone leave because of unfulfilled promises of more.....but then that was Gross and Cantor...Sunday; my head is spinning and waiting for NFL

I hate to say this but we don't have the Phil knight type hanging out on this board. The $100 here or there isn't going to make a dent in what su would need for a salary bump. I can tell you right now from info I have gotten that Syracuse is 1000% committed to football. Salaries and budgets will go up.

I Suspect that is correct otherwise Coyle is a fool and he doesn't strike me as a fool.
