Unless, we're already penciled in. ;):)

The NCAA Chair said the other day that any regular season champion of any conference that does get an auto bid, automatically has to go in to the "under consideration" pile.

21 seems awfully high -- so I suspect it includes many of those teams. The bubble is too weak on the outside to have 21 real conteders for 3 spots.

How many of those do you think there are? Not disagreeing...just curious and too lazy to take a glance :)

That 33 teams already in includes teams that will eventually win conference tournaments too. So teams like ND, Virginia, NC, and Miami are all in the 33 at large right now. One of them will win the tournament thus knocking one team out of the at large pool. So not quite as bad as it sounds.

I thought Shaheen is no longer on the committee, no? How does he know?

and soome of the 21 under discussion are probably teams where if they make a run in the tourney

I don't think this is good news or bad news for bubble teams. It's just a press release to generate interest and clicks. It's not like the committee has expanded the universe of teams and all of a sudden there are teams that no one has looked at before this announcement.

highly suspicious. If this is true, then why do they say they spend so much time picking the teams? Why should it take hours to pick 3 teams out of 21? Since this is a "former" exec, why does he have any more inside info than anybody else. He isn't part of the selection committee is he?
