Bagmen

college football's rigged. I'm close to just giving up on it.
Same here and more specifically on the Cuse. At least with respect to attending the games as my fandom is already hanging by a thread.

Instead of catering to the patrons and tailgaters they are making things worse if what I heard just now is true, next year any spot that is taken up by 10 x 10 or 12 x 12 pop-up, etc. will require an extra $200 donation above and beyond the one spot one pays for for ones car.

Know some people this past game with scores of empty spots in their standarrt lot where parking services came up to them to inform them of this. Made them consolidate their tailgate. Yeah we suck but let's act like this Cuse thing is a standing room only thing to do, Friggin ridic. I've already got one foot out the door...what this threads about and the Cuses new "attitude", might be the final push.

Edit: before somone points it out, of course it's only done if there's extra spots, if a car needs it you give it. Rare is that the case with us

Good listen. Learned more than was in the article.

The article was about 3 different SEC teams bagmen.

They still pay players if they don't work out. (Gives a conduit should they become HS coaches)

Some states(public university) Limit what a coach can be paid. The rest is paid by boosters($4 mil) Different version of a bagman.

I liked when he said something like "people want to treat this all holy, when it's more about a failing institution and the hanger-ons and weird sub-culture that develops underneath it all" (big paraphrase, but accurate description).

Also interesting to hear that some athletes look at the waterfalls and neon lights in the locker room as a sign that they should be getting paid an actual salary

A really fun listen and pulls the curtain back on quite a bit for people who can read between the lines.

We’re seeing the latest iteration happen before our eyes this year with LSU’s class. Woodward is there and open to playing ball and just in this class they’ve pulled Ricks at the last second from Ohio St, Jarrett from Tenn, Gilbert from Bama just off top of my head and whispers are getting louder they’re about to take DJ from Clemson.

And to think he wanted to coach here. What might have been.

When NIL rights are for sale, I hope we’re ready to assemble a big orange Syracuse money cannon and buy the NIL rights to a top-notch recruiting class.

Get your wallets open ladies and gentlemen, it’s about to get real.

Not sure if the secret shadow economy is better

It could have been a lot more of the same. Easily. LSU fans wanted him fired during the 2017 season. Bringing on an NFL offensive mind helped his QB get put into the Heisman conversation. LSU has money and resources that SU will never have. It's a university that resonates with people across the entire state and as a result will have more boosters and bagmen than SU could ever dream of. Private schools that win in college football are the rare exception, not the rule and will never be the rule.

My financial goal in life is to have enough money that it is no longer an object for my wishes, and to be able to buy us into numerous Syracuse Orangemen football national championships.

Sure, I’d prefer it all to be legal, but hey, whatever.

I personally would prefer a non-cheating, even playing field. But that ship has sailed, got sold, and then transferred to some 5* via Venmo
