It's the better route to go. Say we're down 9 with all 3 timeouts left and 2:22 left (1:20 off the click for not using those timeouts) then we would've known we needed bigger chunk plays to quickly get in field goal range.. plus the clock stops after first downs to set the chains in the final 2 minutes. We could've gotten into field goal range fast.. kicked the field goal with about 1:15 left and still had all three timeouts left.
