Belmont up 41-34 at the half. Both teams shooting close to 50% from the field. Difference is that Belmont is 7-21 from 3. The game is on ESPNU for those that want to take a look.

Belmont is one of those teams that's getting closer and closer to annual mid-major status. They've had some high win seasons, but can't seem to knock off one of the big boys.

Belmont wins 83-80. Down 78-80, Belmont hit a three to go up 1 with 14 seconds left. Great game!

Belmont is a pretty good academic liberal arts school in Nashville. Small, couple thousand students. They have a great coach, Rick Byrd, who has turned down offers from bigger schools. Princeton type offense, everyone can shoot the three, even the centers

Ha. Wow. Thats a terrible loss

I wouldn't consider it a terrible loss. Belmont won the Ohio Valley conference last year and made it to the second round of the tournament. They were picked to finish near the top of the conference this year too. Not one you want to lose, but certainly not a bad loss.

Roy's strategy is obviously hoping he can get his good players back and recruit better onesfor next year.

It was a BAD loss....and if CUSE lost to Belmont, this board would be in meltdown mode.

Yes, if we lost to Belmont the board would be in a meltdown, but it's NOT a bad loss. Not a good loss by any means, but Belmont not only made the NCAA tournament 3 years straight, but they've made it to the second round. Rick Byrd is a quality coach who has done great things at Belmont. They're a quality mid-major team.

Little bigger than a couple thousand. According to their website they have nearly 7,000 undergrads. Still, major upset.

Guess Roy has to bring back his bad boys soon. But, he'll really cry if the NCAA puts the screws to him.

Belmont plays Kentucky December 21st. That'll be an interesting matchup to look forward to.
