Ben Davidson - RIP

Got to know the former Oakland Raider legend, Ben Davidson, and his wife on a 2004 tour of Croatia and Slovenia. I recognized him right away without introduction from seeing him so much on the score of Miller Lite "more taste, less filling" commericials he made with Bubba Smith and others.
And Ben was a true beer lover. At bars and restaurants on the trip, he always ordered beers 2 at a time!
A little bit of trivia - besides his acting role in Conan the Barbarian, he also had a cameo role in that great porn classic, "Behind the Green Door".
And of course Davidson had stories to tell about his relationship with Raider owner and SU alum Al Davis.

He will be missed. Also didn't he have a cameo role in one of the Happy Days episodes when Richie and Lori Beth were fighting at that cabin?

I saw Ben Davidson while waiting for a flight in the Duluth airport perhaps a dozen years ago. He was immediately recognizable, although a lot thinner than I thought he would be. My cousin is married to one of his former Raider teammates, Marv Hubbard, so I talked to him for a while. Nice guy.
