was Shrader; unfortunately, the center was making the passes. If he did not catch them all, we lose the game. Give him the game ball.
This is why you’ll see TD playing eventuallyI thought this was a rhetorical thread.
I am completely underwhelmed by our WR group. Maybe it's the routes or the coaching, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over our passing game if I was an opposing DC. Single coverage and shade the safeties toward the run. Don't even cover the TE.

Servais has to keep his a$$ down when he snaps the ball. One of the second biggest recruiting failures in the inability to recruit a serviceable center. Good lord.Servais kept trying to give him the game ball...
Surprised Ilaoa hasn’t flashed in for meaningful minutes. High hopes.Servais has to keep his a$$ down when he snaps the ball. One of the second biggest recruiting failures in the inability to recruit a serviceable center. Good lord.
Alford seems so close to being a breakthrough guy. No idea if he blocks well or how strong his route running is, but he’s flashing.I thought this was a rhetorical thread.

The only 2 WR who should play are Alford, and Harris. If Rhino is back let him block, and use Mang, and Benson as receivers. We have a lot of guys who can't separate, catch or block, so sit them.Alford seems so close to being a breakthrough guy. We aren't going to throw to a TE anymore this season, especially since the one time we did, the guy got hurt. The only 2 WR who should play are Alford, and Harris. I thought this was going to be an Alford thread. I’m all in on that kid. Stud
Please don’t use that wordAlford seems so close to being a breakthrough guy. No idea if he blocks well or how strong his route running is, but he’s flashing.
So he can throw to our subpar group of WRs?This is why you’ll see TD playing eventually
I'm still not convinced Taj is more than an average receiver. He's fast and elusive, but his adjustments to the ball aren't great and his hands can be suspect. And no one on this team seems capable of breaking ankles on routes.Beyond Taj and two great transfers who we only had for a year apiece, WR recruiting has been dismal. We are a QB and two good WRs away from being a 9 win team
Yeah no argument on Taj, I am grading him on a curveI'm still not convinced Taj is more than an average receiver. He's fast and elusive, but his adjustments to the ball aren't great and his hands can be suspect. And no one on this team seems capable of breaking ankles on routes.
According to one of the announcers last night, Dino told him that Taj doesn't drop passes. Ehhhh...huh? He does watch these games, doesn't he?
He drops 'em too. It seems like this is the first game this year we didn't mention him dropping one he should've had and last year he dropped more than any #1 should. I love watching him once he gets the ball in his hands though. He should definitely be our bubble/tunnel screen guy with some of our bigger WRs and TEs blocking for him. It's true - he doesn't drop them.
He just doesn't try for them if they're not perfectly thrown to him.
Maybe Dino saying that, was trying to speak it into existence?
Anyway - Taj is a MONSTER RAC guy. He's very elusive, AFTER the ball is in his hands.
It's the 'getting the ball into his hands' part, that he and we struggle with.
He's pretty meh at getting open, and at catching it, and really not great at becoming a DB and trying to break up a bad pass so it's not an INT.
He doesn't sell his routes when he's not the primary option, and his blocking is subpar.
Yeah, agree with all that. I love Taj, but he's one of those players who can make an impossible catch one play and then drop an easy pass the next. He seemed to be very supportive of Schrader last night, though,, which is good to see. Wish Dino and Gilbert used that vast swath of green in the middle of the field more often. It's true - he doesn't drop them.
