Let's forget the fact we aren't playing this March and remember why we all are 'Cuse fans. So many great memories throughout life, who cares about Kentucky/Uconn, etc, I wouldn't trade my Syracuse memories for any other team regardless of all the drama this year and heartbreakers throughout the years. Syracuse=family for me. What are your top first round memories? Mine are as follows in no order

(1) BYU (2004)-Gmac explodes for 43

(2) Iona (1998)-Janulis with the dagger

(3) Princeton (1992)-Everyone was calling for us to go down and knowing probation was coming was nice to get a W

(4) Southern Illinois (1995)-This was my senior year of high school and I really liked the talent on this team, I remember the game being during the school day on a Friday and being pumped we were getting a shot at Arkansas (we know how that turned out, but great team)

(5) Depaul (1985)-This is my first memory of Syracuse in the NCAA tournament. I remember Rautins playing for them before that but this is the first NCAA tournament game I remember and I remember watching it at my grandparents house and then riding home from there Sunday listening to us lose to Mark Price and Ga Tech.

I hate the first round - every year.

No upside.

Survive and Advance...

That's exactly how I feel. But if I had to pick, I'd go with Gerry's game against BYU.

The first round generally tends to go more quickly for me than the subsequent rounds.

It's all about the journey to me, not the destination but definitely respect that view

I liked the one where they lowered Howard Stern(as his Fartman) character down from the rafters at halftime. The crowd was pretty stunned. I may, or may not have been, sober at the time. When I first saw it out of the corner of my eye, I thought it was like the Munchkin that hung himself from a tree in the Wizard of Oz.

I am with CTO, 2012 vs Vermont, there was no way we were losing that game

That 1992 bracket was a middle finger by the NCAA to SU for the Conrad McRae appeal. Win the BET and get under seeded at #6 to play Princeton, then the closest thing to a tourney road game playing UMass in Worcester.

I prefer blowouts, to be honest, but the Montana State one was particularly satisfying, given the upset predictions from some in the media.

Montana State 1996, or Montana 2013?

My fav was definitely the latter. Didn't get to see the former. But I Love a good curbstomping in the first round nonetheless.

people predicted Montana State would win as well

I would say the two for me are

Iona - freshman year of college in Tacoma, WA probably the only Cuse fan within a 50 mile radius. When he hit that shot I jumped in to the hall screaming and all of my buddies were jumping up and down. It was pretty cool.

BYU- was in Vegas with the same group of people and every time Gerry had the ball and was past mid court my buddy would yell at the top of his lungs, "SHOOT IT FROM THERE GERRY!!"

1975...LaSalle Kobe Bryant's Dad missed some free throws and allowed us to win at the buzzer...went on to the F4

I dont agree. There is no revenge for that loss to Vermont. Its one of those things (like the pedophile uncle) that you try not to discuss because it is shameful and something that is forever a stain.

Vermont can beat us once and we can beat them 10 thousand times in a row after, and Vermont would take that result.

It has to be BYU in 04. I believe we were down 11 with about 6-7 minutes left in the 1st half when Hak picked up his 3rd foul. Was worried and then GMAC absolutely strapped the team on his back.
