May take some for saying this, but I hope that SU isn't a one seed again. Just hate them farging 12 noon games... :noidea:

I want the regular season title, moreso than the BET title.

Thanks for the update, and its hilarious how badly the Big East is screwing UCONN by excluding from the BET. This year's BET is the last legit the Big East will ever throw without Pitt and Syracuse next year and the influx of SMU, Houston, UCF, next year and then the Catholic 7 leaving UCONN will never experience a real Big East Tournament at MSG ever again.

Isn't it the NCAA that is excluding UConn from postseason play?

I believe the Big East is excluding them from the BET, though I could be mistaken.

The NCAA is excluding them from all postseason play, so as to avoid a situation where UConn wins the BET and would then have to be invited to the dance.

From the NCAA Tournament you are correct, but its the Big East office who is refusing them to compete in the BET because if UCONN won it which they won't the Big East would lose its automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. So last year the Big East passed a rule which stated if you are ineligible for postseason play you can't compete for the BET. In 1993 when SU was on probation we were ineligible for the NCAAT, but competed and reached the finals of the 1993 Big East Tournament.

Here is the article

The Big East passed this rule to protects its automatic bid. If for example UCONN miraculously won the 2013 BET then the Big East would forfeit its automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament and there would be only 30 automatic bids and 38 at-large selections, thus an obvious Big East at-large team who would take the Big East's automatic bid by winning the BET would be forced to use an at-large bid and could potential reduce the Big East's numbers in the NCAAT. Thus, UCONN's exclusion from this year's BET is solely the choosing of the Big East office in Providence even though they are ineligible for the NCAAT or NIT the conference is on its own volition excluding the Huskies. In 1993 Syracuse was ineligible for the NCAA Tournament but we competed in the BET and reached the finals before losing to Seton Hall.
