That is without Va Tech and Miami in conference
 
and while it is true we are nothing like we were from '86 - '01, we know and acknowledge that as a fan base - and as a fan base we expect to get back to that level.  Our programs history has been filled with high periods and low periods.  There is enough success and tradition over the decades that it can be expected that we will be able to return to competing for conference championships in the future (near).
 
With the significant increase in conference money by moving to the ACC we are beginning badly needed facility upgrades and rebuilding our brand ... a brand that was still strong enough to get us into the ACC even after the disaster that was GROB.
 
And we split a conference title within the last 10 years -- one of the worst decade long stretches in program history if not the worst.
 
And then there is the fact that we can at least pride ourselves on playing real OOC opponents over the last 20 years.  We take on solid BCS opponents in our OOC schedule 90% of the time ... we are not afraid to schedule the top dogs - if we scheduled like some other programs do, we could have had a few more wins over the years and pulled a smoke and mirror act too
