Big East Tournament to be 6 rounds w/ 19 teams in 2013-2014

Just trying to make Pitt and cuse think they're willing to make them stay so they pay to get out.

Let's count.

There were 16 teams last year. In '12-'13, there will be 15--WVa is gone.

In '13-'14, 5 new teams will be added: Houston, Memphis, SMU, Temple, UCF. Which means 20 if SU and Pitt stick around, 18 if they are gone.

Maybe this is why the BB's gave Marinatto the boot.

I honestly have no idea who will be in the Big East then. No freaking idea. By definition, that is what's wrong with the Big East.

At that point, you might just as well hold a standard 8-team tournament for the top 8 teams, and run a separate tournament for all of the other BE teams hosted at the seeded teams' sites running concurrently with the main tournament. Consider it a chance for teams 9+ to pick up some wins. Then play the final game of the "Lower Bracket Tournament" the afternoon of the Semifinals in NYC at MSG.

There is no way that SU will be in the Big East for the 2014 BET.

May as well invite Boise, San Diego, and 10 other independents (or a small conference) to join as BE Associate- Tournament Only members. Then do a straight 32-team/ 5 round conference tournament. Which would be one less round than what they are looking at.

I can't wait to watch that Monday afternoon session of Rutgers-SMU and Houston-USF.
