Big East Tournament

Butler's live mascot puked on the paint before the game.

Wouldn't it have been Thursday? 4 Games, most times teams were all in, or in the hunt for an at large berth.

In the beginning, the BET ran Friday-Sunday. When the 8-9 and 7-10 games were added, they were on Thursday.

Made for a nice long weekend.

I can see that when it was a snug conference

But the tourney final had been on Saturday night for about 15 years, so I was referring to the "re-peak" of the Big East in the mid 2000's -- Thursday seemed to be the day. Most power conferences were getting started with their prelim's, and the Big East would have some top 25 battles on Thursday.

He's talking about semifinal night.

To me quarterfinal Thurday was more interesting than Semi-Final Friday. Maybe just me I suppose.

They should watch the ACCT if they want a place with no energy. There's a reason I've been watching the BET instead; and it's not because Syracuse isn't playing.

The first few years the tourney was at MSG (83-86) the title game was Saturday night. I remember Cuse losing to St. John's in the 1986 final on a Sat. night. When CBS took over the TV starting in 1987 we had the Sat/Sun afternoon spots. When ESPN took it over in 1996 they went back to the Fri/Sat prime time with the first title game being the Iverson vs Allen classic.
