Jim came to Syracuse, scene of his great achievements as a collegian,  to be honored by the Alumni Club. Jim gave a press conference in which he said that he was impressed with our new coach and very optimistic about the future. The Syracuse football team jumped off to a 17-0 lead in their game against South Florida but then got out-scored 3-45 the rest of the game. The loss made their record the last 15 years 65-107 (.378) after a 15 year period where they were 126-49-3 (.720).

Then he went to Cleveland, scene of his even greater achievements in the NFL, where they dedicated a statue to him. This morning an ESPN reporter asked him why the Browns, in their second incarnation, had been unable to return to their glory years. He described that as "old news" and said that their new coach was "a great human being" and that the organization was now all working together and that he was very optimistic about the future of the Browns. The Browns shocked the Ravens by taking a 20-0 lead. But a blocked extra point was returned for two points, the first two of 25 unanswered points the Ravens got the rest of the game. That made the new Browns 78-186 since 1999 (.419) after the old Browns had been 430-269-13 (.615) in their glory years.

I hope both teams can be something for Jim Brown to be proud of in the near future and that Big Jim will be there to see it.
