nassib is one of the best QB's in the league. Not totally sold on bridgewater. Dont think he is a pure passer like geno. Tino Sunseri I never really liked. He makes alot of poor decisions but he's capable of being manageable. Pit's new offense is a better fit for him. rutgers nova/dodd still have alot to prove. uconn has a new starter, temple and cincy's QB are the running type, not provin passers. I do think bj daniels accuracy will be better and he will have a good year. Statistically, Nassib is the best passer. I just wish he can do a better job of creating when things break down. His intermediate game is on point. He needs to do a better job of making plays down the field. Thats the issue. With Lemon and Sales. We should be able to take shots. Nassib just have to hit them. With the exception of BJ Daniels, I think he will be the best QB in the league. What do you guys think?

1 bridgewater
2 Nassib

The rest is pretty awful (yes, I'm including BJ Daniela because the lightbulb will probably never come on for him)

I think Nassib can be the best, along with Bridgewater and Daniels. When BJ Daniels stinks it up, he really crashes and burns. Consistency is his issue. Hopefully Nassib can hit the long pass.

Could swear that last year was supposed to be the "big year" for Nassib. Experienced O-Line & receivers and all...

I am a Nassib supporter, but I don't think anyone in their right mind would put him on the level of Bridgewater. Bridgewater could very well be a Heisman contender in a year or two.

I would rank Nassib #2. I have to admit, I am very intrigued about next year, though. Should very very interesting to see how things shake out and what kind of game skills our current backups and newcomers will have.

He's got Sales back and a legit NFL draft pick WR in Lemon to go with him, new additions in Ron Thompson and Broyld, a healthy Gulley, slimmed down AAM, and a more proven Jerome Smith...I'd say from a pure offensive skill position talent level, this is the best we've seen in probably 8-10 years if you look at it from an all-around perspective.

The OL is the biggest ? and I think once Pugh is back, it's at a minimum on par with last years OL. Hickey over Hay is an upgrade, the loss of Tiller is likely a downgrade, and everyone else returns with better talent to compete with behind them.

I'm excited for the season purely because we FINALLY have legitimate competitions at key positions on both sides of the ball. To see quality players that 2 or 3 years ago would have started sitting at second, or in some cases third string has me pretty pumped. Unfortunately we have a brutal schedule so who knows where the W/L record ends up but it should be an entertaining year.

You're kidding about the wr's right? It was chew lemon and Dorian graham. I recall thinking the wr's were going to kill us

Bridgewater had the best QB rating in the BE last year. He also had the second best completion pct and yds/att (behind Smith). However, he had only a 14/12 TD:Int ratio. He is probably the best in the BE.

If Nassib improves on his long ball accuracy he might be the best this year. Senior QBs can really surprise with improvement so lets hope Nassib does.

I think Ryan is really underappreciated, even by some within our fan base. I think he could easily be a top 3 QB in the league. One thing I wish he would do is be more willing to run. He's much more athletic than people think.

The numbers he will produce will be about the same as 2010 2011.The only thing big about this year is the number of sacks he will receive

Way to be positive. Sometimes I hate being a Syracuse fan, with how negative the fan base is all the time.

And I do not think this is true.

Don't all-time school records constitute a "big year"?

Nassib is truly underappreciated for one reason. wins. His numbers are not gawdy like a video game, yet he has pro scouts viewing him because of his efficiency and low interception ratio. He will do well this year, and ecen after he leaves will still be underappreciated unless we end up with 8 wins this year. There are too many fans out there that are burnt out from the Robinson years and honestly are just flat out negative about everything even when it is unjust. Nassib pisses us all off every now and then, yes. In the grand scheme of things he is a solid QB and without him we would have looked even worse in the last 2 years.

I'm not bashing on the kid. I'm just saying that we heard the same thing last August.

We were coming off the Pinstripe bowl. And going into the season, we had Sales (lost to suspension) and Jarrod West (lost to injury) included in that mix. But we soon lost both and later found out that Lemon was dealing with a broken hand for much of the season.

Not saying it wasn't a valid excuse, but we heard the same thing going into last season about Nassib.

QB's generally get too much of the applause and too much of the blame. Ryan is a far better Qb then we have given him credit for. Hard to compare QB's when some teams have solid lines , backs and receivers. Ryan has spent his entire time at SU with "unhuge" problems on the line and underwhelming receivers.
Think back to the days of watching RJ overthrow wide open receivers by 5 yards, often a few times every game. Ryan might miss a few but he is the best we have had since McNabb and that is kind of sad. That being said, I think Ryan will be a solid if not flashy winning Qb this year.

You forgot to mention that Chew played hurt all year and Dorian's hands were suspect at best. Barring injury, this year's stable of WR's is far better than last.

Nassib was not sacked all that often compared to others in the BE. (Too bad they don't keep track of hurries.)

Nassib was sacked 29 times last year or 7% of the time. Sunseri was sacked 15.8%, McEntee 11%, Bridgewater 11.1%. By contrast Smith was sacked 26 times or 4.9%.

I don't know if it the offense or Ryan but I would like to see the ball thrown to a spot more. Let the receiver run to the ball once an a while. I think it was stevens who he hit on the fade off a pump fake, and laid the ball up. I feel like he is always drilling the ball into the receiver. I don't know if it is nassib or the offense but to generate big plays you have to trust the receivers. Maybe this is the year they are good enough to trust.

One factor is that pass plays haven't had time to develop much these past three years. Tough to sit back in the pocket and make timing throws when the defense is jailbreaking into the backfield 7 out of 10 plays.

Accuracy accuracy accuracy. Until we see it on a consistent basis he is a mediocre QB at best. He doesn't turn the ball over fair enough but he doesn't have touch and tends to panic when the pocket starts breaking down. I'm rooting for the kid but I'm tired of seeing balls thrown 5 yards behind or 10 yards over the receiver.

I agree there were too many misses, but the kid still produced many yards with 2nd rate talent around him. Not slamming the players that played, but they were not our first choices, who were out for various reasons. Each of 2nd stringers stepped up and played their best and I am thankful for that. Now we have our first string back and a very experience second string. Nassib will have more confidence in those around him, the line should play better, the talent around him is better. Net result: Nassib should have a good year, a very good year.
