for Sammy Watkins? I think Watkins is a AJ Green like talent, but Beckham Jr. looks like a Dez Bryant like talent.

Would you say Watkins is worth the 16th pick in this year's draft?

Odell Beckham is 5'11. I'm just not a fan of little WR's. Reminds me of Lee Evans.

Not discount Beckham's production though, he looks awesome. I'm still good with what Buffalo did for Watkins.

the bills have a better washed up QB than the giants washed up QB but it was still a bad trade. watkins and beckham are both great and their teams are going nowhere.

bills gave up too much.

watkins is/will be awesome, same with ODB...6 in 1 hand, half dozen the other.

but at the end of the day, 1 team still has all its picks for next year and the other doesnt.

when you give up another #1, you better be getting an Eli type talent and end up with a couple of lombardi's or its not worth it.

and other than a QB and to a lesser degree a DE, im not sure id make that trade.

i dont feel the position warrants it.

russ brandon, that snake oil salesman, calls watkins a generational talent

there's jerry rice , maybe randy moss and calvin johnson. that's it. everyone else has peers.

Agreed the only position worth giving up an extra 1st rounder IMO is a QB.
Watkins is good don't get me wrong but the 8th pick and 16th pick for the 4th pick is not a good trade. Especially when the Bills weren't just a WR away from winning it all. If the Patriots gave up 2 first round picks and said Watkins was the missing piece I could see it since their picks are typically in the last 1/3 of the first round. WR is going to be a deep position every draft nowadays thanks to college spread offenses.

When I watch Watkins I see AJ Green. Don't get me wrong Green is an all-pro talent, but he isn't a generational talent. I have watched Darrelle Revis shut Green and Watkins down this season. They overpaid for the kid when they could have selected Beckham at 8 and still had their WR playmaker and first round pick for this year.

Watkins couldn't hold Green's jock when 100% healthy.

As, a Football Giants fan. I'm Glad we have him.

Lee Evans. Please, Try Steve Smith (The Real Steve Smith)

Laughable.

Eli Manning's been plagued by the butter fingers of his receivers. Manning's a two time Super Bowl champion. Saying Orton's the better QB is pretty ridiculous.

I said it draft day night right when it happened and nothing has changed since May to change my mind. It will go down as a very bad trade and maybe one of the worst draft day trades we have seen in a very long time. You don't trade up that high for a WR,you just don't. Especially in a draft that was very deep at WR. You don't give up a future 1st round pick for a WR. Makes no sense. Watkins isn't Calvin or AJ or even Fitz in his prime. He just isn't. He is a cut below and to trade up for him was insane.

The Bills have so many holes and to give up a 1st round pick, probably a Top 15 first round pick next year is insane. On the other hand give the Brownies credit for jumping all over that deal and taking advantage of the Bills front office.

LOL this post is so ridiculous. Watkins is half a season into his career and now its one of the worst draft day trades in hisotry? LOL please stop with the over the top nonsense because you cant stand Marrone. Buffalo has had a first round pick every year for the past decade + and has exactly what to show for it? They made a move for a player who they thought could be an elite level WR for years to come. This whole argument over him and Beckam is ludicrous there both not even a year into their careers and everyones now favorite WR of all time has a history of chronic leg issues who knows where he will be in 5 years.

Please stop with the over the top nonsense.

For the record... Watkins made a similar, incredible catch against the Lions that helped win that game. Watkins has single handedly won two games that we would have lost. He is the least of this team's problems.

The bigger issue is that they should have told the Brown's they could have Marrone and they were keeping Pettite or whatever his name is. Marrone's is problems a, b, and c with this team:
- he totally butchered the oline which is inexcusable for a former olineman. See his handling or urbik or the team signing that washed up dude for St. Louis
- he has no idea when to punt and when not to
- his conservative nature has made the Bills' O look as bad as Syracuse's

If he wants to stay head coach of the Bills he needs to go have a heart to heard with Coughlin. Coughlin was an ahole and then made the conscious decision to lighten up and have fun and he then won two super bowls and became one of the most respected coaches in football. Marrone needs to follow that example or he is toast.

It's not over the top nonsense. NO WR is worth 2 first round picks, sorry they just aren't. That's what makes it a bad trade. Watkins would have to be a first ballot hall of fame WR to make the trade good. It's bad value. A bad trade. And not a way to build a franchise. The point is Watkins and Beckham are pretty equal WR's, so why trade up to get one when you had one in your lap. Hear me now believe me later...this is an awful trade. And I'm not alone in that thinking. And a HUGE spotlight will be put on this late next April in Chicago at the next NFL draft! Wait and see

fair points.

but lets get back and down to brass tacks...whats ridiculous and over the top is the trading of 2 #1s for 1 of the aforementioned WRs.

Good thing they only traded one.

Right because the Bills wont have there usual pick in the early teens im sure the franchise will be setback for a decade maybe they won't even make the playoffs for a few years.

When you havent made the playoffs since the Clinton administration you take chances and try to add what you think are superstar players to a team that desperately needs a star at that position. Why your so concerned about a team your not even a fan of is mind boggling.

Really? Someone saying this on this board is laughable considering how everyone around here harps on every little move Rutgers makes!

Just because the Bills have made bad/dumb draft picks in the past doesn't mean you do dumb things going forward to compound it past mistakes.

Rutgers was a rival of Syracuse and a team a lot of people on here hated. If Marrone wasnt the coach there now you would just be posting over and over about how much your savior Shafer now needs to go.

Second who said it was bad/dumb pick? You? LOL.

When you get the other teams first round pick back its only 1.
semantics.

instead of the 2014 1, it couldve been the 2014 2 & 3 etc.

believe me, ive spent 10 years on your side of the argument, but thats just not how its looked at.

They are both pretty fragile. Each has dealt with injury issues throughout their careers. With the wide receiver depth in last years draft class I wouldn't have given up a 1st round draft pick though.

I think ODB could be slightly better, but a long way to go.

On a side note how about what LSU alone pumped out in the 2014 draft class.

ODB - Giants
Landry - Phins
Jeremy Hill - Cincinatti
Alfred Blue - Houston
Mettenburger - Tenn

and that's just offense.

I get it but in the end they lost next years 1 which based on our history I really dont think is a big deal unless Buffalo was looking at a top 3 or 5 pick this year which of course they aren't. I woudl have preferred not to give up a #1 but im sure Cleveland wasn't moving for a second round pick.
