Today is the 146th anniversary of the founding of Syracuse University. It seems like a good day to pay tribute to the programs we support, those that came before us, and each other. SU athletics are healthy and robust. We're fortunate to be fans in this era as I think we're on the cusp of great things in our athletic programs. SU has many national championships in a number of sports and the future is promising. We're in the midst of celebrating two great basketball teams who have made it to the sweet sixteen. Anything can happen in the tournaments and most of us are proud of both teams for their representation this season. Kudos to JB et al, Coach Hillsman, and all of the athletes who have made this season a success for the men's and women's programs. This is a year we'll remember. We're also celebrating in anticipation of an exciting era in the football program. Dino Babers is going to be the most fun football coach we've ever had. By a lot. It's telling that the football team may compete with the basketball teams for the most points scored. Hope springs eternal. I'd also like to pay tribute to the athletes that created the sports tradition at SU. We've had many successful sports programs and it's taken a lot of great athletes & coaches to generate that success. It's not just football, basketball, & lacrosse. SU has prospered in many sports. Kudos to all of you. As fans we stand in the place of all those that supported SU's sports programs during their long history. Dan Johnson is a great example of the standard set by our predecessors. I stand in awe of the commitments made by many of you to SU sports programs. Well done. You can take great pride in the success of the programs you helped to create. Lastly, thanks to all of you that make this place a reality, including the benefactors, administrators, and posters. This place has been and continues to be a godsend for many of us. This is the premier place in SU fandom to connect with casual fans, connected insiders, knowledgeable analysts, former athletes, and professionals from many fields. It used to be I could name all of the people here I find impressive, but the group constantly gets larger. Tomcat, Bees, CTO, CuseLegacy, OrangeExtreme, and Texanmark still top my list of heroes, but it's a long list. You create this place every day. Thank you...really...
