Robert Edwards saying people need to re-evaluate how good SEC really is.

About time someone on TV said it

Outside two teams they are average and play no one

I happened to be in Vegas last year on the day of the USC game, the day we found out we were ACC bound.

I'm sitting in the at Mandalay and some mouth breathing guy in an Ole Miss polo comes up to me, in my Syracuse tshirt, and yelled "SEC" in my face. I told him that him yelling "sec" to me is like a DePaul fan bragging that they're in in the Big East.

He's from Mississippi so he obviously didn't get the reference. But that's one of the reasons why I hate the SEC.

The SEC usually has 2-3 really good teams and a bunch of barely average or below teams. The big guys feast on the have nots in conference, but a lot of conferences are like that.

It's those friggin national championships that have everybody mesmerized.

Plus they cheat a lot, even though anyone who can fog a mirror can get into most of those schools.

That kind of reminds of this skit - it's about that other futbol but the idea is the same

If there was an 8 team playoff as opposed to this ridiculous system we have in place the SEC wouldnt have won any NC's.

I don't get it. Before today most posters were talking about Mizzou being a tough game. Now, its flipped with everyone saying the SEC is terrible. Teams like Georgia, South Carolina, Bama, LSU, Florida, and A&M are good teams. Teams that would win the big east. Doesn't anyone remember what the Auburn defense did to Oregon to end the 2010 season then the same thing happened when LSU played them to start the 2011 season? Sure, I get it. That was last year. I still like our chances playing those hillbillies from Mizzou (I'm from Cortland County so I know hillfolk when I see them). I would not write off the SEC though. Plus, I would hate to see ND in the title game.

SEC is hands down the best football conference in the world. GO GATORS!!! Big 12 ok the rest are jokes.

SEC is still the best conference, but with Ala, LSU, Aub, and now A&M in one division and Fla, Ga, and a SoCar team on the upswing in the other, it's going to be difficult to go undefeated. It'll be even tougher if Tenn ever gets back to being halfway good.

Cheers,
Neil

I never said they were intelligent. Good at football yes. Logical? Pumping the tires of a gator team that squeaked by ULL with a call handle touting mizzou may not make the most sense.

Auburn hahaha, maybe when they had Cam Newton. They're awful now.

My post wasn't about this year, but rather as we move forward. Unlike the ACC, to use an example, the SEC has it's programs that you can count on to be good most every year (Ala, LSU, Fla, Ga) and those that can step up every now and then when one or two of them falter (like Aub, A&M, and now it appears SoCar). That's a HUGE advantage in terms of conference strength.

But the flp side of that, is that it will get even more difficult to finish undefeated in the season. So in the current BCS system (had it remained in effect) the SEC was unlikely to dominate the way they have recently. But in the playoff system, they'll still get a team there 9 times in a decade.

Cheers,
Neil

Sounds like the pre SU version of ACC hoops.

You don't necessarily have to be able to fog a mirror under certain conditions.

I think you're wrong here...fogging a mirror might be the only criteria needed at most of the SEC schools. :)
