I think you are all underestimating what the UCONN has to offer as an institution. When it comes to selling, it doesn't matter if you don't win all the check boxes, it just matters than you have competitive advantages. For example, if someone thought that being a Catholic school was a big deal, that gives BCU an advantage. In other cases, being the top public university in New England is an advantage, there is a breath of programs available at UCONN.  If someone wants to get into broadcasting, SU has an advantage. If someone wants to learn how to extinguish dumpster fires, RU has an advantage.

We have a very strong academic standing and the growth trajectory of UCONN exceeds our local rivals. The state is pumping billions into the school. This helps.

Great facilities help.

But most of all, its going to come down to Diaco. He will hit it off with some recruits and might turn off other recruits.

For all his faults, PP won more head-to-head recruiting battles in his 3 years than Edsall did in 10.  My impression of Diaco is that he is a born salesman.

I have no doubt he will win more than PP or Edsall combined.
