Bobby Petrino...

It will be interesting to see how well he does. If the players respond to him on the field and then no one will care, but if he goes into the toilet he'll be gone.

Bobby Petrino is #softnosed or the opposite of HCSS

Prediction: they get off to a decent start because of their talent and then begin to tail off beginning with our game :D:E

Huh...if P "goes into the toilet" I would bet that Grantham is the goner.

Petrino is just pissed off that L'ville took away his motorcycle.

Sounds like the rest of the staff is too much like him.

When the going gets tough that team will fold like a lawn chair. There won't be enough busses to throw each other under or fingers to point at one another.

Sounds to me the troublemaker is the DC.
IDK the quotes from players are the key, they were ready to leave. This isn't the 'Ville that came in and dominated a washed up BE who had just lost VT and Miami. This is the ACC +1 and they have to play Miami, Clemson, FSU, and ND this year. They get us on a Friday night in the Dome which has baffled opposing coaches the last couple of years as well. There is a very real chance Miami smacks them around in their first game, think how disorganized we were against PSU, Petrino and staff have more game experience but not together, there will be hiccups and communication issues. Consider that they lose big to Miami, they have another game 5 days later. It's against a FCS team but they could have a hangover from the Miami game and it could give them fits. All they need is a Grob-esque performance against Murray State and the team could start quitting on him. DM cleaned house and only kept guys who believed in the system. Shafer was just a continuation. Sounds like Petrino is trying to change the culture with guys who don't necessarily buy in. Im hoping for civil war in the locker room and front office. Burn baby burn.

What makes the Louisville situation worse is that HCDM cleaned house of players not likely to see the field while taking over from a poor coach, contrasted with Petrino taking over a solid team that played for a very good/great coach going to a tyrant/(fill in the blank). I see a very tough season with kids not being happy and a few leaving.

I know in Louisville that everyone is flying high with Petrino but this has the potential to be Kragthorpe II for the Cards. I am with you, burn, baby, burn!

They aren't petrino's kids so I don't know how much stock I put into their quotes. The DC has had rifts everywhere he's been.

Petrino is yesterday's news. This happens a lot in sports. One day you are on the cutting edge and the next day you are just another guy. Petrino is a good coach but he is not a great coach.

Remember when the Washington Husky players hated Willingham so much they went out and had a winless season? Ok this won't be as bad but we can hope! Petrino is an arrogant piece of crap. He hasn't been humbled by his motorcycle/mistress mess he is the same softnosed clown he has always been

Winning cures a lot of ills.

I think that Louisville will win a lot of games, that Petrino will be celebrated and that all is well that ends well and the current tension disappears entirely. The players Strong brought in were talented and the players he coached were used to discipline. While there is a huge difference between a disciplinarian that is turning Texas around right now and a loud-mouthed jerk who is yelling at players and calling them names, the Petrino offensive system with the players Strong brought in there will win games and Petrino will lighten up and the conflict with Grantham will either go away or Grantham will go away.

I hope and think we beat them, but Louisville being a good football team year in and year out is part of the solution that ends up with the ACC being able to compete with any other P5 conference. FSU, Clemson, Louisville, Syracuse, Miami, North Carolina. I don't think Pitt or BC or NC State or Duke or Wake Forest will be there year in and year to raise the profile of the conference.

Not sure I get your point, I think the fact they aren't Petrino's kids is exactly what could lead to a locker room meltdown. If they don't buy in, it will be a long season in the 'Ville.

Screw UL, when we beat LSU next year WE will raise the profile of the conference. I have no love for UL at all and I think their coach is a POS.

I do also - except for Mark Schwarz

He's the biggest exception. ESPN has its hacks, and it pushes an agenda to some extent (Tebow, Manziel, SEC! SEC! SEC!) but Yahoo is just awful.

Completely different perspective on the situation in Louisville from this ESPN story.

http://espn.go.com/college-football...-jurich-man-being-bobby-petrino-second-chance

I tend to trust ESPN a bit more than I do the hacks at Yahoo.
That is a good article but my take is that Jurich has laid down the law and Petrino will toe he line or be gone. Jurich has proven himself a very good AD and unwritten is what amount of personal clout Jurich levied with Louisville to bring back Petrino.

From the field side I point out that Petrino built a team to beat the Big East when Syracuse and Pitt were down, WVU was the only real competition with USF and UConn pretending to be substantive and Rutgers having their best season. He had speed while everyone else was slow, except WVU. He will not get that break with the ACC where everyone has speed and plays defense. He was good against mediocre teams it remans to be seen what he will do against good to elite teams.
