With age --- sometimes --- come money. Some older people have it and younger one's generally do not ... or at least yet.

If JB wants to change the composition of the crowd to get a younger, more vociferous group, then his beef is with the University, not the fan base.

In many ACC schools (Maryland and Duke, for sure), the students sit alongside the court. So Step #1 in bringing noise and vitality to the games would be to move the students into the stands behind the benches. And relocate all those high-value patrons to the end zones or have them bid up the prices of tickets on the other side stand.

Step #2 - would be some sort of discount pricing for local alums or for some other younger, identifiable group allowing them access to the better seats ... and not the third deck. Remember here, we are managing the composition of the crowd and not maximizing revenue. Maximizing revenue is the current strategy.

Now there's some downside to this. Having attended many Maryland games, I can assure you the behavior of the Maryland crowd is among the worst in college basketball. SU crowds are mild, by comparison. And that's without beer being served.

So be careful what you wish for.

But there isn't a chance that the cash-strapped SU Athletic Department is going to allow this. They need the basketball bucks badly at least until football attendance gets back up. And that could be never.
