Looking at the Oriole's box score yesterday, I saw that Boog Powell, Jr. was leading off...for the A's. Very weird.
Turns out he is unrelated to the former AL MVP and current restaurateur. The family gave the kid the nickname Boog, and now he too, is a major leaguer.
Had I known the odds of kids being named Boog making it to the majors, I would have named one of my kids (probably not my daughter) Boog.
