I have to imagine the bowls want to know who the opt-outs are before making their decisions. Is there a deadline to declare? Syracuse’s appeal is McCord. I’d imagine the selection committees for the nicer bowls will want assurances he plays as a precondition.

I think bowl game invites will be handed out next weekend after the conf champ games so safe to assume people will be deciding this week whether they play or not

Thinking we get a bunch to opt out but hoping for the best.

There is no way the players would opt out before the school receives and accepts the bowl bid. If McCord opted out this week he would cost the school millions. I have to assume Fran has told them to be silent until the bid is accepted. Same goes for every other school.

We would end up in the Pinstripe Bowl if he and others opted out ahead of the bidding. Kidding, sort of.

McCord wants to play. There are a lot of factors. Since he’s far from a lock to being a high round pick he might need to get another game on tape. If feedback is he needs to focus on workouts and the combine that might be it.

True but one thing that might help his development the most is being drafted by the right team. I call it the Archie Manning/Terry Bradshaw theory.

Doesnt all the ACC money go in a pot anyway? So opt outs don't really lose any money for any school since its mostly ACC teams getting the spots.

For players like Kyle & LeQuint it might depend on how good of a bowl game it is. For others like Marlowe Wax they may opt out due to injuries.

Bowls should assume guys will opt out at this point. It's crazy to expect players to risk their futures in games that have become pretty meaningless. That really hurts bowls in cities that are not great travel destinations, but it is what it is. I think if fans see non-playoff bowl games less as a competitive game and more like a celebration of a good season and little bonus football game with previews of younger guys, they may learn to be less upset about the whole thing.

Alot of our players still need games against top opponents to prove what type of player they are.
Assuming our bowl opponent will be the best team we'll play this season. We'll see.

Eiiew. Lol

I’ll be there if it’s Bees throwing to OXtreme with ottoingrotto doing cartwheels in a cheerleader uniform.
Whatever contributes to the program I guess.

They should exclude the games from the records. Losing record last year because of a bowl where no one played? It's goofy

All the impactful players for every team will opt out so I don't think it matters.

I view them as NFL preseason games, a way for the backups to get valuable reps.
