Levy wins the award for a fourth time, having earned the honor in 1997, 2002 and 2010 as well. Levy led the Tar Heels to the ACC Tournament championship last weekend, capturing the second ACC title in program history with a 15-14 overtime win over Syracuse. The Tar Heels are 16-2 this season and have won 13 consecutive games, last losing on February 27 to top-ranked Maryland. Carolina has won six consecutive one-goal games since dropping back-to-back, one-goal decisions in February to Florida and Maryland. UNC has been ranked No. 3 in the nation in both major national polls for most of the season. The ACC also announced its other individual awards on Thursday. Syracuse’s Kayla Treanor was the Offensive Player of the Year, Notre Dame’s Barbara Sullivan was the Defensive Player of the Year and Syracuse’s Nicole Levy was the Freshman of the Year. The Tar Heels are automatic qualifiers for the 2016 NCAA Tournament as the ACC champion and will learn their seeding on Sunday night when the NCAA releases its tournament bracket. [/QUOTE]
