Bracketology with Mr. Lunardi

Unfortunately I think its going to be a tough battle all year to keep Tennessee a Q1 win. Right now its Quad 2, they are #33 in NET
Yeah, I don't think Tennessee is all that good. For the people complaining about preseason ranks, Tennessee is one of those teams who were overrated. They have one good win over Houston, but that was also a single possession margin. Their only other wins that could be considered good are Rice and Rutgers (two teams in the 150s on Torvik).

The torvik maneuver

On a surface level, I think Tennessee's resume looks a lot like ours. It's crazy that they're on a 3 game losing streak and are still ranked 20th.

They are probably between a 5-8 seed type of tournament team. I think closer to a 5 when it's all said and done, I really like the pieces they have and they will only get better. Also, a dangerous NCAA tournament type team if players like Ament and Gillespie get hot.

Houston’s only good win is Auburn, there’s a lot of flawed resumes at moment

Hopefully it's not like the win over Miami in Red's first year where copeland hit the buzzer beater. Miami was ranked around 10-15 I think at that time, but ended up having a losing season and being close to last in the ACC. Syracuse also stormed the court after that win.

How is Kentucky there? They’re 5-4 with not even anything close to a decent win. Hell, they aren’t even competing in most of their losses.
Lunardi knows nothing about basketball. He only knows how to read the analytics at the end of the year. Just like anyone can do. I don't know why ESPN keeps paying this idiot.

Trying to put a bracket together this early in the season, especially when over half the games are cupcakes, is impossible to do without bias or relying to much on individual NET. There is just not enough data to select teams without for some basing it on what you think the are.

When I use to do brackets early in the year (and this is going back to RPI days pre 2018), I would use a site that had "projected" records / resume for every team based on what they had done to date (used Sagarin). Selecting based on projected records would at least give me something of substance in a 31 game view to work with to select teams.
