It seems that there have been a lot of changes in South Bend since the end of the 2011 season.

Anybody know?

Three left I believe, they try and spin it like he is revamping the staff. But 2 left to go with urban Meyer and 1 left to become HC at umass.

So aside from new coaches from other programs, coaches from last year have had their position responsibilities changed.

Really, a whole new staff in South Bend.

But that's the way it's been at ND since Lou Holtz left.

The coaches change and the results are pretty much the same.

My buddy, who's an ND fan, was trying to tell me that ND was still a power team in football...is their fan base as delusional as they seem? Or are they just that loyal that they think a bunch of championships from before many of them were born really matter?

I've never "clinged" to the 59 championship for the simple fact that it was over five decades ago. You can't even really talk about MacPherson because recruits weren't even alive back then. Really the only thing that matters is the past decade, if that, and we are clearly not anywhere near a top tier program. Yes, the history of the program adds a sense of mystique, but a lot of those guys the old timers reminisce about have faded from the public's mind. When's the last time you had a conversation with someone, not involved with SU, about Jim Brown or Ernie Davis?

ND won't be irrelevant until people stop hating them as much as they do. Take all the threads for other non-conference schools on this board, add them up and it will equal about half of the number of ND threads. As for the results on the field, they certainly are living off past glory. Will it change or has the game evolved and left them in the rear-view mirror? I guess time will tell.
