Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater has decided to enter NFL Draft source told @ESPN

It is good for our chances to beat UL at the Dome next year, but puts a ding on UL staying top 25 next year. The ACC is fine as long as FSU ends the SEC NC streak this year which they should do.

It wouldn't shock me if Blake Bortles is the first QB selected in the draft. I like Bridgewater as a QB prospect, but not as a #1 overall pick. His built is too small right now and he needs another 15-20 lbs of muscle to be able to absorb the grind of the NFL. BOB will workout all the QBs Manziel, Bortles, Bridgewater and pick the best one for his system. Bridgewater is smart for coming out, but I don't think he is a lock to be the first QB taken in the May NFL Draft.

Gotta love Manzell's feet and ability to improvise but he is very small by NBA QB standards. I personally don't like his histrionics and manic personality on the sidelines. Don't think that will work well in the NFL. Will be interesting to see where he gets taken. He could be a major steal for someone or a bust. There are safer picks out there but someone might get him and have it turn out being the steal of the draft...

always thought strong to UT made most sense, and glad teddy gone the better for Cuse the better it is for me.
Strong makes sense anywhere. He is solid, knowledgeable, develops players, works well with his staff (not a tyrant). UT will simply pay what he wants, IF he wants to leave Louisville.

I wouldn't take another qb in front of Manziel, I just would not

He is like the best parts of Favre and flutie. Reminds me of Gretzky in a way seeing things that no one else does . He is the best

Whoever takes another qb in front of him will be kicking themselves in the ass, IMO. factor off the chart and I don't see Bridgewater with a canon arm by any means. Once again, somebody will over think it

If it was Florida looking for a coach rather than Texas, I would agree that Strong was moving. He has a lot of contacts, etc. in FL. With Texas he's got to start from scratch building contacts and a recruiting network that has been eroded somewhat by aTm and the Okies.

Strong went to Louisville and started from scratch. He has plenty of contacts as all coaches do and Texas recruits for itself. Most kids here in Texas dream of playing for UT first and then accept OU and TAMU, then the remainder of schools. I agree that Florida may be the ideal slot for Strong but he will succeed wherever he goes.

He must feel good with BOB getting hired at Houston.

I think he feels better about the Benjamins he'll be getting mores than an O'Brien!

Exactly. Mack Brown came from NC and had no start from scratch at UT. He did just fine. The Texas brand recruits itself. Strong would likely have some assistant coaches with Texas HS ties and he'll be able to point to a track record of success at developing players, especially with Bridgewater in the mix for #1 overall.

I'd be shocked if BOB took Manziel. BOB comes from the Belichick tree and is versed in the "Patriot Way". There's no way he's going out on a limb for Manziel and all his off the field concerns. Manziel may very well turn out to be a great NFL QB, but he also has the highest flame out/get a coach fired potential. I just don't see BOB taking him #1 overall.

I think he's one of the best in college football. I can even forgive that whole weird thing about Nassib supposedly saying that we've never lost on Senior day.

Manziel won't go #1. His best attributes don't exactly measure well per say. Someone will take him in the first round. Total boom or bust prospect if you ask me. He isn't the polished passer Russell Wilson is from a mechanic or arm strength standpoint, but is probably his equal in athletic ability. He needs to be put in the right situation in order to flourish -- locker room full of vets, ideal system, and preferably a fast track to play on. I would have some concerns about injuries, as there is no way his body can withstand some of the hits he takes at the next level.

I'm interested in watching the Bortles kid from UCF toss it tonight. Very underrated QB IMO. Has a lot of NFL tools.

Aaron Hernandez says "what?"

He is small and is a risk no doubt. But OMG does he have an arm. Guy can make any throw and with great accuracy and touch. Throws 30 yard outs on a frozen rope.

you understand the difference, right? The difference between a 4th round tight end and a QB taken first overall? The difference between the leadership expectations of a tight end and a QB?

Or were you just going for a cheap one liner?

Dammit, I don't even like the Patriots (Chandler Jones excepted, of course) and you are making me feel like I'm defending them.

Aaron Hernandez says "what?"

And several others. They will have a circus on there hands whoever takes him and that is reason not to for some and BOB is pretty grumpy so I could see that coming into his decision making. I don't think manziels issues off field will be a concern at all, he already knows what it's like to be the focus of the media unlike some

what good is it to play it safe? if he stinks, you'll get to draft high again. if you want to be consistently good, you need to get a boom. getting a consistent ok qb doesn't make you consistently good. teams that are there every year in the playoffs have great qbs. if the QB you draft isn't great, you want him to be terrible so that you'll get another shot at getting someone great.

EJ manuel was just safe enough to stop the bills from drafting someone good to replace him. doesn't do anything for you to be concerned about getting a bust

I don't know where I wrote "play it safe" in my post, nor did I mention the Bills' reach for Manuel last year. I think you misinterpreted my post. We can debate on Maziel's NFL ability if you want (somewhere between Flutie and Wilson IMO).

However you bring up a good point and your theory makes some sense if the GM, HC, and scouting staff weren't worried about career risk. You can only be so lousy for so long before you get fired by the owner (not to mention a cap hit of X for said player).

Personally, I'm a big believer of drafting the best player available, regardless of position. It seems to me that the better franchises tend to get this (Baltimore, NE, NO) rather than draft upon need (Jax stuck with Gabbert, etc). But I digress.

i was referring to you calling manziel boom or bust and I assumed that you'd take other guys before him because they're less likely to bust

you can take the best guy available when you have flacco brady and brees. i'd draft qb every year until i get one and then maybe i'd consider taking that really good safety who is the best guy available. i don't mind the bills picking manuel, i mind them not picking someone else because of manuel.
