I was bored last night so I thought I'd look up JB's record in close games since we may be playing a couple soon. Thanks to orangehoops.org for the info.

Jim Boeheim started his coaching career in 1976 and has coached a total of 309 games decided by 5 points or less, broken down like this:

32-22 record in games decided by 1 point.
50-27 record in games decided by 2 points.
33-20 record in games decided by 3 points.
37-26 record in games decided by 4 points.
41-19 record in games decided by 5 points.

193-116 record in games decided by 1-5 points.

I think that's a pretty good record and indicates JB is a great game coach. Perhaps other coaches have better records but I don't have any idea how to verify that. Gotta love orangehoops.org and it's up to date right through the St. Johns game.

of course, one of these days Igor will resurface and tell you that the fact that JB has played 309 games within 5 points of his competition is proof that he is a failure as a coach - should have beaten at least half those teams by a dozen points or more!

Does this include NCAA tourney games? I'm curious what those are by themselves

Includes all games including BE Tourney, NCAA, NIT... Everything. Didn't do NCAA games separately though.

We probably would have if we only played more m2m... ;)
