Random question here: we have a 7 month old, and I'd love to bring him to a game this year (probably January). Trying to get his Syracuse fanhood started early. Anyone have any tips for me? (best sections for tix, how feasible it is that I'll be able to make it through a whole game, etc). Or should I even bother? Haven't been to the dome in over 6 years, didn't know how easy it was to get around with an infant. Any help/advice/tips would be greatly appreciated!

I'm thinking to not even bother. Hire a sitter or have a family member watch him instead.

He literally won't remember it.
And you'll be saddled with a kid all game, assuming you can even last all game with a baby.

Too young. Wait until they're walking at least. And be sure to bring headphones to muffle the noise for little ones.

I am going to disagree with the consensus here.

My little girl went to her first game when she was 12 months and went to 3 games that year and she loved it (shook her Pom poms and clapped at all the appropriate times, following the crowd). We also took her to 3 games when she was 2 the next year, and got an even more enthusiastic response. We missed the COVID year obviously and she was super mad we weren’t taking her to any games.

Fast forward to this summer (she was 3 this summer) and she was BEGGING to go to a Cuse game (I may occasionally watch re-runs during the summer haha) and we have been to 2 this year and she LOVES it and begs to go.

Make no mistake, it is work and we have left a couple games early (probably not her fault, this was 2019 haha) but we love it and she loves it. I didn’t think she would remember (doctors say no memories before 3 yo) but this girl remembers and LOVES it.

It also requires a 3+ hr drive both ways for us, she loves all the family time (mom and dad may work too much)

I love babies, but that seems like a huge logistical pain to me. At 7 months old I wouldn't be surprised if they just slept the whole time due to the background noise, but do you really want to deal with lugging around a diaper bag, etc.? I would just get a sitter. But if you definitely want to go, I would sit in the upper deck in an unpopulated area where you can spread out easy.

Brought my one year old, wasn't too bad, its all how they handle loud noises. Kid is three now and has been to a bunch of basketball and football games.

I’d probably wait a few years. And when I did, I pick lower priority, emptier games, and sit in emptier sections.

Sounds absolutely awful. But best of luck either way! (I cannot contribute anything here)

It’s far too loud for a baby, even young kids

We’ve been through this with 2 of them. I would recommend the 100/ 200 level because the slope is less steep.

I wouldn’t plan on making it through a whole game. Maybe with a baby but we never did when they were toddlers, it was most oftentimes a half or a bit more.

The noise can be scary, I’d have some type of ear covers.

Nachos grande. Always nachos grande.

My wife & I brought our 4 boys to the SU/BC game this past weekend (Otto's kids club game). Ages are 8 months, 3 yrs, 5.5 yrs and 8.5 yrs old.

Normally I attend games with a bunch of friends & we tailgate beforehand. This time the family joined the rest of us, along with a friend of mine's son (age 9). We all tailgated for a while before going in. The older 3 loved it (Obviously the baby will have zero recollection), eating food in the parking lot, throwing the football around and just the whole atmosphere of everyone outside having a good time. We made it the entire game with really minimal snacks thanks to the pre-game tailgating. Kids never asked to leave, seemed to enjoy watching the game & spending time with my friend's son. Next morning my 5.5 yr old asked if we could go to the SU game the following day. Told him next home game was 4 weeks away, but he was ready!

Typically we'd leave the baby with my parents, but they were unable to watch him so he came along. Full disclosure - my wife knows I'm a maniac at games and am incapable of watching/caring for a small child so she held him for a solid 2/3 of the game, he slept another quarter and I held him the remainder of the time. We sit up in the very top row of the Dome, so we have lots of space to spread out. We were able to put down a blanket, wrap him up & allow him to rest.

If you're really into the game and you think you'll have to spend a fair amount of time entertaining your baby, I'd wait. I don't leave early and I wasn't going to even if my kids wanted to. The older 2 have been to enough sporting events (and like watching) where I knew it was safe to take them, but worried about the other 2. Like I said, only reason mine was there was because my parents were unavailable and my wife was caring for him the majority of the game. I will say, it's good to start them young so they're interested and grow to love the program. I think 3 or 4 years old would be a good test run for a 2 hour bball low key game (exhibition or Cornell type game). Good luck!
