With 11:50 or so left in the 2nd qtr, Maryland has a 3rd & 8 from their own 38. They throw a kickout screen to their back in the flats, Bromley reads it, disengages with the center and hauls ass to tackle the running back from behind near the numbers on the field for only a 2 yard gain. 4th down, punt. The announcers: "And look at Bromley cover the ground and go get him at the 40-yard line. Boy, Jay Bromley is a 285-290 pound defensive tackle making that play. And that's the key, with this Syracuse defense, they're big, but it's so key they can run sideline-to-sideline and Maryland on offense continues to struggle to pick up their defensive pressure. How bout the big fella?"

One of the reasons I point this is because it was awesome to see a big DT show off his speed, hustle and athleticism and take down a much faster running back 15 yards away. The main reason is to show how far the unnoticed kid from NYC has come. From having no scholarship offers, to picking one up after a HS all-star game at the Dome, to developing into one of the better DT's to ever play at Syracuse is incredible. These are the types of plays that make that kid a special talent.

I really hope he gets a good chance at the next level. He has the physical tools and the athleticism to make it.

he will get a look -and you have to think he is a hard worker because of what he has done-another thing they want in the league

kid is going to eat fl st centers like a steak in front of a rabid dog- the kid qb is going to be scared snitless by halftime

Ever since prior to the start of last year when Bromley said something to the effect of..."My line" or "My guys", I had a feeling he was going to do something big. He became a leader and took it upon himself to become the heart and soul of the D-Line. He was excellent last year and has been a total terror this season. He does so much more than your typical interior lineman. Not only does he eat up blockers, he makes plays. We are going to severely miss him next season. However, we still have 4 games to watch him wreak havoc. Enjoy them!

Selfishly, I wish he would have red shirted his freshman year.

He will be a real key if we are to make a game of it against FSU. If he can make some plays and knock the swagger out of FSU early, we may have an opening.

He will be drafted in the first 3 rounds. To me he's better than Arthur and chandler jones.

I think that one play made Jay a ton of money.

Great finish by jay - more impressive was Anderson blowing up his blocker and forcing the play back inside. If that blocker wins that battle, Bromley doesn't even get a chance to make that play.

That's textbook TEAM defense.

I love Bromley, but Art had a sack yesterday and Chan is already a fringe Pro Bowler. Let's keep some perspective. ;)

The all star game Bromley played in wasn't in the dome, it was played downstate. Not that it matters but I've seen a couple people the last year or so write that he played in the dome.

He played in two- one downstate, one upstate.
