After watching Broyld carry the ball, he reminds me a great deal of BJ Daniels. Daniels is a remarkable runner with incredible shake and ability to run away from linebackers. While I was watching the game, I was wondering...do we have a BJ Daniels type of talent wearing #1 on our sidelines? Obviously ive never seen him throw in a college game, and from reports he doesnt have the type of arm BJ has, but his ability to make plays with his feet in definitely Danielsesque. What do you guys think?

I don't think Broyld can run like Daniels - not as quick or as fast.

Bingo. I hope like hell Broyld turns put to be a better player than BJ Daniels.

Why would you say Broyld has a worse arm? Just asking because I haven't seen him throw yet.

Broyld is the same type athlete and based on what I saw of him in HS has a better arm. Now not sure that translates to the college game (though with a gun to my head I say it does), so it will remain to be seen if he more like a Daniels or more like the type Sean McDonough said "people were saying" he reminds them of and that's Cam Newton. Time will tell.

the original poster referred to reports of that. i actually think broyld is a better thrower than people give him credit for.

Why? Did Daniels sit out most of his freshman year?
No, BJ was thrown into the fire as a true freshman when USF QB was injured. It was BJ's best season as a whole... it was pre-Skip who really does not want a BJ type QB...

ok...thanks. I know he's been told he'll get a shot at QB so I'm assuming that means he has an arm. We'll see how accurate it is but I share your optimism.

None of us know what Broyld is or will be. I won't be surprised if he winds up the starting QB , Slot Receiver or tail back.

I have no idea what kind of thrower he is, but if he is in fact competent in that regard, it will be interesting to see what goes down in the offseason. You'd have to think the coaching staff would make sure he couldn't be QB before closing the door on that chapter of the Broyld story, right?

Between that and the change in coaching, Daniels was doomed to become what he is, talented but erratic, relying on his feet to save his hide. Works well enough in college but will not work in the pros.

I think Daniels is quicker and faster than Broyld. Not even close, really.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen another college QB (that includes Mike Vick, Denard Robinson, etc.) that on 3rd and long can sense a gap in the defense and just attack it like lightning and pick up the first down the way BJ Daniels does. It is beyond frustrating.

I'd take a running Vick or Major Harris over Daniels any day. I think Daniels was good v. SU...but let's face it, our D didn't play him well either.
