Surprised people have Louisville. We have nothing in common with them, they aren't regional, and we haven't played well against them. Short history too. Plus they have New Big East stank on them. If we are going with traditional and regional opponents I think Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia, BC, Rutgers, Maryland should be locks. The last 3 is where it is harder. Temple is next on the played list. Easy road trip. But they stink historically. Navy is next up on played and not far behind is Army. They both make a lot of sense. Having Ws on the schedule is a good thing, but at the same time they are respectable unlike Temple. Then we have Miami. IMO the appeal of playing them isn't the same as the Big East days. They are no longer the most hated team in America. Tied for next is Louisville and VA Tech. I think VA Tech should make it. A little more regional than Louisville. There is enough to hate still. They have history with the other teams already in the conference, much more than Louisville. Those are the only teams we have played 20 or more times. Outside of that there is UConn, more so for being regional and BBall. Plus BC needs a rival. There is also Notre Dame who is a pseudo Northeastern team. Also we would need to consider common opponents for the other schools. Pitt has played Notre Dame, Miami, Navy, Temple all 30+ times. Penn State has played Temple, Ohio State, Michigan State, Navy, Iowa all 30+ times. West Virginia has VA Tech and Temple. BC has Army, Temple, Clemson, VA Tech, Miami. Rutgers has Temple and Army. Maryland has a bunch of ACC schools and VA Tech. So the above IMO further makes the case for VA Tech as the 8th team. Army, Navy, Temple also show up a lot. I could make the argument for Army and Navy to fill the conference out. But the conference would be stronger overall if it were Temple and Notre Dame. Plus Army and Navy won't be there for BBall, and it is better to avoid hybrids if possible. So my final answer: Cuse Notre Dame Penn State VA Tech Pitt West Virgina BC Maryland Rutgers Temple Which is 7 out of 8 from the OG Big East.
