Butler loses to D-II school

Doubt it! They probably barley brought it up.

Perhaps they actually called all the fouls Butler commits . . . . . . . . they are worse than Pitt IMO.

One word ... parity. Seriously ... now that make Arizona and Butler. The year that we lost to LeMoyne ...didn't either Michigan or Michigan State lose to a D2. IMO the D1 schools play like its practice (i.e. LeMoyne we played M2M almost the entire game with a team who couldn't play M2M against those little guys) while the D2 schools see a win as a great recruiting tool and play all out to win.

...correct its one of their games of the year...and the big guys treat it as practice...since we pay big $$$$ we should change one or two rules so that it is not considered an exhibition game but rather an exhibition...make it only 19 minutes a half; or give only 4 fouls...something that takes the aura away from a "real" game...then you can play it more as a benefit to getting the team ready rather than a game that doesnt count but ESPN treats like it should count.

Excellent! Butler is now posed for an excellent regular season and a #1 seed in the tournament, in which we will defeat them in a very hard-to-watch game, then go on to the title game. That's the way reciprocity works, right?

Hmmmm... The box score would seem to indicate that Butler did, at least, give their starters most of the minutes. Their PG played almost the entire game : http://www.butlersports.com/sports/m-baskbl/2011-12/box_scores/20111102_tiw3.xml

My first response is "Wow" ... who is Northern State? I believe if we go back and review the box on the LeMoyne game JB was still subbing pretty liberally and staying with the M2M.

Sounds fair to me.

As far as the money thing goes I think it is great of JB to schedule Stevie's team. I read where they are struggling for funding and also that they don't get the same schollies the D1 schools get and rely more on providing financial aid.

I also think its great that we have Murph's team scheduled this year (also 1 of my alma maters) and I hope it helps them with recruiting.

Can't believe Stevie made his team take the red eye in the night before.

They're college guys, so the recovery is probably easier, but still, the day after a red eye is never exactly a peak physical condition day.

Agreed! I love that JB does stuff like this.

I think that it is more a matter of money and funding ... cheaper for 1 night than 2.

The guy behind me was bitching that we weren't helping the local team out. He said that's the price LeMoyne is going to pay for beating SU.

Maybe we can start fitting 4 or 5 exhibitions games in before the season starts ... makes everybody happy.

Clearly Butler needed to play more zone- that M2M thingy must've doomed them vs these guys!

Seriously, the silence is deafening about their loss as well as Arizona's to a DivII team. Thats why I laugh when folks try & suggest SU isn't as "elite" program- when apparently the rest of CBB seems to think so.
Whether its the NE media location, the BE conference, or the number of alums in broadcasting, Syracuse losing to LeMoyne was headline news.
Sweet16 records notwithstanding, I'd say thats a sign of us being "elite"! ;)

Guess you can never make everyone happy. We will probably play LeMoyne next year.

Great! Now there's only 3 more 1 seeds left since Butler just reserved theirs.
