It really is quite fair. The NCAA clearance is based on information available. Who knows what came up after that. I mean, let's face it, UConn is about as filthy as a program can be over the past decade or so. I'm sure they work very hard with the NCAA to make sure the information they get is accurate.   It's worked out well for them though, so kudos to the Huskies I guess.
 
It's the same as submitting your taxes, just because they accept them, doesn't meant they can't come back when additional information comes out and bang you for it after the fact.
 
Maybe he had lousy test scores and ACT or SAT invalidated his last test just recently and that was his sole qualifying score. Perhaps the information he submitted said his amateur status was adequate, but they found new information. Maybe he took online courses at a school they just determined was fraudulent (that happened quite a bit while I was there).
