“Byron Washington entered DeSoto High School with rods in his legs to stop his growth plates from breaking open. He stood at 6-foot-8, 450+ pounds and struggled to move”

Interesting article here. Mods if this was already posted feel free to delete or merge with a different thread.

I think this kids going to be a stud for us. Once he drops more weight and gains even more muscle I bet he absolutely starts at guard. The confidence Fran instills in his players and notably, Byron, is nothing short of excellent coaching. We are very lucky to have both men representing Syracuse university

I would also like to point out that the rapid growth Byron was facing probably limited his mobility not just his weight, hence rods being placed in his legs (ouch). Nothing wrong with being a dominant guard in college & NFL though.

He has already dropped weight Fran talked about this earlier this week.

370-380 for him and we are in great shape. He was significantly larger when he showed up on campus. He’s done an amazing job. So has strength and conditioning team.
Shows the level of care our coaches have for players willing to work... not just as players but to want them to succeed in life in general. Byron's quality of life at 350 will be exponentially better than his trajectory would be at 400+
