Seems to be some interest in Daniel Tobiloba, a 7ft center from South Florida, not impressive stats but perhaps being looked at as a developmental big or end of the bench player if we happen to match up with another tall/physical center. He recently was followed by Alex Kline & Engelstad, and he then followed Alex Kline & Engelstad back. He would have at least 2 years of eligibility, perhaps more.

We're looking for a backup center [think we roll with Kyle as the starting center], so the stats probably won't be impressive for any prospect we chase.

Don't know anything about this prospect specifically, but someone like this or some foreign prospect is what I'd expect.

My inside source at USF (staff) says he’s a great kid and teammate. He also says he doesn’t love basketball and it was hard to get him in the gym all season to workout. He says there is potential for improvement but not if he continues the same work ethic.

maybe Red thinks he can light a fire under him? Sounds like a gamble with low probability of success but also low downside too.

Exactly the type if player SU doesn’t want. They want guys who love the game and be in the Gym.

It's hard to find any real highlights of the guy. He's 7 feet and 240, so that part is fine, but all I can find online is some HS footage where he is kind of a bystander, a single dunk at USF.

I don’t think I’ve ever come out against a potential signee, but I will here.

I would think part of the vetting process is speaking with his coaches. If he passes that test, looks like he will be a viable candidate for an offer. He's not a rotation piece and has some of the physical requirements (size and length) that SU could be looking for as an affordable bench piece. His stats are certainly nothing to get excited about but he shows some low post skills in his videos that could make him serviceable/valuable, especially if there are injuries or foul troubles in the front court. I could be wrong but It's looking like with SU showing interest, they're running out of options.

Sounds exactly like a kid who was a huge part of the biggest season SU has ever had. He only wanted to be a school teacher.

I thought the kid from GT was our backup center?

This roster composition is extremely worrisome, IMO. People can say what they want about it being better than last year. And if Donnie Freeman is a lottery pick, then I think we have a shot to be good.

But if he doesn't take a leap, I don't know that I'm all that more excited about this year's version than last year's.
