Count me as a member of the GMAC fan club - as I was hoping SU would choose him over all other realistic replacements for Red. I favor GMAC because he creates a "give max effort and see the court) mindset (As did Coach Boeheim over the course of his career, remembering all of the quick hooks and screaming at various guys who weren't rotating or trying hard enough). GMAC has a Rick Pitino mindset. I absolutely love that & I know many here hate Pitino (I'm not in that crowd obviously). He also values ball security and his teams get good shots, even late in the shot clock. With this said, I'm very happy to be held accountable when I'm wrong about something. I don't feat that at all. Isn't it a bit early to be suggesting that people might be wrong? Conversely, what if GMAC succeeds? Will you personally own up to making coments like this or will you change to a dupe acct? Presently, its time for fans like you and me to unite. Lets get behind the program and give things time to develop. There were plenty of Siena fans that, two years ago, weren't really sold on GMAC as the head coach. His success there aside, I applaud him for bringing in hard nosed players who gave it all they had. If he does this at SU, he'll lay a foundation for the future. The best thing about GMAC is that he can build a program and he knows what SU fans expect. I know GMAC wants to win now, because winning is all he's ever done, but let's all admit that his progam is very underfunded. Irregardless of who the SU coach is, the truth is, winning at SU has become extremely difficult. A HOF coach like Boeheim struggled to win in his last few years. His key assisteant, Red, couldn't win either. Who exactly do you suggest COULD win right away at SU, other than GMAC? I'm all ears. Lets also admit, the game has really changed. College teams are basically minor league teams now - the NCAA was forced to compete with the G-League or...or college ball would have died out. NIL is here to stay and players this year are earning significantly more this offseason than they did last year.
