It would be bizarre to me to commit to a school that just began to show interest in you, so that your only exposure to where you'd be living your life and establishing the foundation of a career would be from a 'virtual tour.' He has familiarity with FSU. I was gonna suggest maybe he knows NCState, just from having been in HS in the area, but my close friend at google tells me that's an hour and half away. So, probably not.

This is one of the craziest developments I have ever seen. In the year 2020 a seven foot 246 pound kid from Syracuse suddenly appears out of nowhere and gets numerous high major offers. It’s like somehow this kid was exempt from the Internet for the last two years. If you told me that this was an April fools joke I would believe you.
And the beautiful thing is as of yesterday I had never heard of this kid. Now I am eagerly and anxiously looking forward to Saturday at noon.

Here's what it boils down to -- it is confusing how a kid with this size and athleticism [relatively speaking] is just garnering attention this late in the game, as a class of 2020 recruit. Because the tools seem obvious.

And because these offers are legit, it is very strange that he's unrated, has flown below the radar, etc.

I wonder if, as many here have said, that academics may have been the issue. And given the current reality of Covid-19, at least in NYS the Year-end State testing is being waved. Perhaps it just came out that North Carolina has suspended their state testing, and this translated into automatic qualifying for Ballard. Just speculating on the timing of this.

Since I'm stuck at home and have nothing better to do, I did some Googling.

- Mike Waters' recent article on Syracuse.com says that he is 7' 240 lbs.
- An article on the d1circuit.com web page dated 4/19/2019 says that he is 6'11" 210 lbs.
- A tweet from scouting service Upstate Scout dated 11/12/2018 says that he is 6'9" (no weight listed).
- A YouTube clip posted 11/2/2017 describes him as a 6'8" PF (no weight listed).

NC State offered him a scholarship. QEA is about an hour down Tobacco Road, so I assume someone from from NC State has seen him play. Earlier posts in this thread indicate that Ballard trained with some former SU players when he was in Syracuse. So unlike Sidd Finch, it appears that QB does exist. And if the Internet is to be believed, has been growing at a pretty fast rate.

At that rate, he’ll be 7’8” by the time next season starts!

Kid originally from Syracuse and played at Henninger. Now playing at Quality Education Academy in NC. Listed at 7ft 246lbs. Starting to get some pretty big time offers...looks to have the size we could certainly use. Anyone know much about him?

I thought i read somewhere that he has spent the past 2 years playing in NC. So I'm I'm assuming he played at Henninger his freshman/sophomore year? Not 100% on this though.

There's a video in this thread(?) where he was a gangly 6'8" kid. Then, all of a sudden, the next vids he looks like Embiid.
Another pic shows him with some dudes including Dajuan Coleman. I hope that is an 'association' that benefits us.

yea the person that told me he had grown a lot since Henninger said he was about 6’6 when he left.

He has definitely grown and put on strength. Also as zelda zonk mentioned, he has quite a few connections to people around the area including former players. I mentioned earlier in the thread that there were numerous people close to the program that have been on the coaches for awhile now about offering this kid or at least wondering why they havent offered up until recently.
