Just turned on the USA basketball game on espn 3... and there was Calipari coaching the "other guys." What goes with that? Is he recruiting there?

Must be the DR is considered "offshore".

Karl Towns was trying out for the Dominican Republic team (#1 center in 2015 and probably the best in the class):

Not sure if that is really the reason, but it must have been some incentive.

Wasn't Pitino coaching Puerto Rico...or something like that?

Saw during the game that the DR team training camp was in Lexington. Isn't that a bit sketchy with Towns on the team?

John Calipari dives through the loopholes that Jim Calhoun used to quietly and casually step through. It is blatanly obvious why he is coaching the DR, but I am sure it is allowed and he is going to exploit every "legal" tactic imaginable to get the top notch kids to go to Lexington. And, if "legal" albeit shady tactics don't work...then he makes a call or two.

He's no longer the coach.

Towns was 14 when he took the position. Given his ability to recruit, I doubt Cal needed to expend 2 years coaching a national team as a smoke screen to get a kid in 2015.
