I think our RB's are as good as ND's-PTG and AAM looked good out there
I think our OL is fairly similar to ND
I think our QB played as well as theirs yesterday (when you factor in turnovers).

So what was the difference?
1) Playmaking WR's-We have guys who are athletic, but young and/or raw-Estime, Ishmael (so i hear), Custis. Our more developed guys have been catching the ball very well this year (West-who showed he's much more than a "body" yesterday", Lewis-who catches everything), but right now we don't have a guy who can consistently do both-catch well and separate. I think a healthy Estime is the closest thing to it. A Mike Williams on this offense would totally change this offense, especially in the red zone. Also doesn't help we only have 2 CB's-more on that later
2) Ill-timed penalties-I know there's never a good time for one, but it seemed almost every drive, a false start by someone-OL, WR would just kill our momentum. It seems we've been this way forever.

IF one of the young guns can develop and we use them down the field to stretch it, as well as cut down on the pre-snap penalties, i believe we have enough talent to be a good offense.

Oh yeah, last thing. We're not good enough to not have a Kicker. I've said it before, but I believe the staff made 2 big gambles in the Spring that have backfired and really hurt us and it's not 20/20 hindsight b/c many saw it coming.
1)Could not afford to take a chance on Krautman recovering/Norton improving
2)Could not afford to only have 3 CB's with experience coming int the summer-needed to either in someone, whether JC or the Offensive side of the ball and let 'em work at it for more than 2 weeks before the season. No one can say they're shocked that at least one of our top 3 CB's were going to go down. Hopefully lessons learned.

LOL.

Hunt had to fit the ball into tiny spaces while Golson had wide open gaps. Not saying Hunt played better but if you reversed the opportunities and added Golson's mistakes it really isn't that far fetched.

Gilson can throw good screen passes while Hunt can even miss those.

Yes he can struggle with those passes, I agree. Still even on the pick Hunt threw the ND guy had a handful of the SU receivers jersey before the pick.

Hunt had some fantastic tosses, I agree.

But yes, it is that far fetched.

Golson's grossly overrated, but Hunt still needs work.

LOL.
Right-if you switched Golson and Hunt, it would've made a huge difference. Golson had I believe 4 Turnovers, including a pick 6. Almost every completion he made , the guy was open by 5 yards. Hunt had barely any easy throws and fit some passes in where they had to be absolutely perfect. Plus, you had the ND D focusing on him, as theyir own players said after the game. Conventional wisdom isn't always correct. Again, I didn't say Hunt was better (haven't seen Golson enough to know ) in general-just that he was at least similar in this game.

I also didn't see their RB's do anything that ours didn't. We desperately need some WR playmakers and to cut out the amount of momentum-killing penalties, particularly presnap.

The biggest advantage ND had over us was that their defense is very good while ours is mediocre at best. Their new DC really had them ready for us...a bye week always helps.
