Is Cameron Lynch fast enough to be an NFL safety?

At 5' 11" and maybe 220 pounds, I don't think he's nearly big enough to take on blocks from NFL lineman and tight ends, but then the question is, can he run fast enough to play safety?

And for that matter, if he is, could be play safety at SU?

This kid just has a nose for the ball and hits just like Shamarko.

Or is moving him to safety at SU just asking for trouble?

Uh, no. He's not a great player in space. He's a down hill linebacker who is an excellent run stopper and pass rusher.

LB all the way. I'm curious though, with the emphasis on safety in the nfl, is smaller LB's will be the way of the future. Perhaps SU was ahead of the curve here?

I like Cameron, but...He has a hard enough time play coverage from his LB spot. I would guess that he has never been considered as a candidate for safety.

But, I do wonder what Josh Kirkland would look like at SS...

Part of it is that SU's looked at players considered too small or too slow for the "big" schools. If Cam was 6'2, he'd be at Georgia now. SU has done a very good job of looking beyond the numbers to find kids willing to work hard and develop (Bulluck is an example of a guy who grew into a pro-sized player)

I think Kirkland would be a easy transition to SS. Lynch would be better suited trying to move inside and be a London Fletcher.
