I know it's meaningless in the big scheme of things, but I just want to be ranked number one for one week this season. I get an adrenaline rush from seeing a "1" next to the word "Syracuse."

Come on basketball gods make it happen. Colorado is a solid club and can pull it off tonight.

With Dinwiddie I would have said yes but that was a huge loss.

San Diego State is a 50-1 bet to win it all. That may not be too bad of a bet.

Richmond upset Mass-of-Two-chetts.

Arizona is annoying because they are very similar to us however, now that they are out of non-conference, they are playing cupcake after cupcake in that league. Everytime I see they have a game its against some borderline tourney team at best.

Same thing with the Shockers.

Its not like our first 10 games of the ACC schedule are that challenging either (a few home tests) but overall its not any harder than Arizona over that time. I guess its frustrating because we can't take it in our soft part of the schedule, and it will be tough to take it in that last really tough stretch.

Our tough stretch is the last five road games starting at Pitt. Other opponents on the road up to that point are borderline NIT teams at best. Before our game at Pitt, Zona will have played at San Diego St, Michigan, UCLA, Stanford and Cal.

The only advantage we have to help us get that #1 at some point is our tough stretch starts a little later:
Arizona starts it tough stretch on January 29 - 5 of 7 games on the road against NCAA or NCAA borderline teams (Stanford, Cal, Utah, Colorado, Arizona St)

We don't start our tough stretch until Feb 12, but with games at Pitt and Duke, it is also a much more difficult stretch.

I can see us taking over #1 for a week, but then losing it shortly thereafter.

Ehhhhhh. Let them have the bigger target on their backs.
I'll worry about Arizona when their coach doesnt pull a pitt and exit them early.
I am more more concerned about the rest of the ACC beating each other up so we dont have to worry if SU , I shudder to think of it, loses a game or 2.

Outside of playing road games at slumping Oregon and Cal there is nobody in that conference with much chance of beating Zona.

Arizona is a very good team that could win the whole thing come march and their SOS is better then SU

Arizona- Conference SOS(104), Non-Conference SOS(37), Overall SOS(33)

Syracuse- Conference SOS(122), Non-Conference SOS(72), Overall SOS(68)

Right now I can see the ACC getting 5 bids and the Pac-12 getting 6 bids

When has miller exited them early? He's been pretty good in the ncaas.

Agreed. I think it should make us play harder, and therefore, better. We've been #1 before around this point of the season, and I recall us playing scared, like we didn't want to lose. Which is a sure fire way to lose.

Our non-conference SOS is being hurt due to Cornell (#332), Binghampton (#322) and High Point (#267).

He went to pitt- winning in the tourney isnt something he has alot of experience in.
in 9 previous HC seasons, he's been to two Elite 8s and two other Sweet 16s. He's 11-6 in the NCAA tournament over that span. Jim Boeheim is 12-7 over the same period.

I think we could manage Gordon nicely. Johnson I think would be the guy that would hurt us bad.

I don't think Tyler Ennis knows how to play that way...seriously. These guys know they are good.
