with the supposed tweets of our players saying the things that were supposedly tweeted/said, but really were'nt. Now as result of his misinformation that erroneous message is out there nationwide complete with some SU schmuck now living in SC and his letter to the editor in todays paper ripping the players, and though its nearly time to go forward to NCST this perception continues to take root and thus needs addressing.

Didn't somebody here look into the tweet history and determine it didn't happen as was said and was a case of the Clemson media enhancing and blowing things out of proportion at best or making things up at worst?
Smith said he'd take his #10 vs their #10 (what would one expect him to say, this vs. what was reported where they said Smith said his #10 was better than theirs). And I'm forgetting what the other supposed tweet was.

Just another example of the problems inherent with social media. Someone should write a letter back to the editor informing them of this but before that was it as I recall? (Most of it made up by Clemson media to hype thing to their advantage).

better off just letting it run it's course rather then perpetuating it. In a week or two, no one will remember it.

you could be right but I'm not so sure as I think it likely festers and grows due to McDonoughs words, ESPN's perpetuation of the sideline thing with its bottom 10 listing, etc. with others likely to piggyback on it with a good chance that Syracuse is now unfairly tagged for this season with attitude issues going forward (when this is just the way things are with football players for better or worse in this day and age).

Discretion sometimes is truly the better part of valor, other times gotta fight fire with fire. If I'm SU I'm putting out some fires somehow with getting the message out to contain this misperception being created. Though I'd prefer to err on that side, who knows, maybe you're right.

The Clemson fans, who seem like a nice enough bunch on this board, appear to be a very insecure bunch.
So you are convinced the media is conspiring against you, yet we're the insecure ones.

Mmmmmmkay...

This is why sports figures don't say anything remotely interesting to the media.

If you're a huge underdog and your statements are more than the vanilla, "(Opponent) is a great team, they play extremely hard, we're going to work hard this week and do the best we can to shock the world," then prepare for the consequences.

Just the way it is.

I listened to the Terrel Hunt and Macky McPherson interviews on Orange All Access last week and there was nothing made up. Anything I saw in quotes actually came out of their mouths. I think the quotes looked worse on paper, but they were said. I'm not sure why anybody thought there was an urban legend in the first place.

thanks, the first I heard that. Mackey or Smith actually said words or words to the effect that "our #10 is better than their #10"? Or was it matter of misperception as ONirvana notes above?

The only one I read (copy n paste to this site) was Rome tweeting that he was watching a Clemson game and would take our #10 over theirs. Read into that what you will. That is what he actually said.

The "Our 10 is better than their 10" was tweeted by Jerome Smith. I saw the tweet and didn't think anything of it. Some of the Orange All Access quotes by Hunt and McPherson that were previously discussed looked worse on paper than they did if you listened to the video. There was no disrespect meant by either. It was all much ado about nothing IMO but clearly Clemson and their fans tried to create some bulletin board material out of the quotes. I just want to dispute the fact that people said quotes were made up etc because I don't believe that was the case here (as it clearly was with Louisville last year).

got it and gotta own it, move on and learn. Makes sense as as much as I was surprised to hear McDonough go with it (having read the opposite on the board) he must have read that tweet himself. Good job by Clemphson (as I just learned it's pronounced from watching the tailgate video above).

You all are interpreting this the wrong way... At least the media is writing about SU again and not tucking it on page 30. SU plays in a big boy league now, so expect this stuff to be more the norm. The SU players aren't used to having to speak the speak. It will all be fine with a win vs. NC St.

Both the coaches tirade and the pregame tweets/comments are really non-stories. Clemson made a big deal of then so the announcers did. Overblown.

No. I never said that. I just think Clemson fans seem overly sensitive. Which is what I said...insecure.
